Atlético paid Ł30m for Sorloth.

I don't think that citing a player who scored one goal (in the League Cup) across twenty matches in a season and a half for Crystal Palace really backs up your point about how easy it might be to replace Watkins.

Watkins wasn't prolific in the Conference or League Two. I can be selective too.

It's worth pointing out that Salah was signed in 2017 and Vardy in 2012. They have fuck all to do with the current market.

So I need to list players who have better goalscoring records, but I'm only allowed to include those who moved in the past transfer window?

More likely we'll have someone less effective and you'll pretend you didn't have an agenda against Ollie and will give the new and lesser player more praise.

I don't have an agenda. I just don't buy into the low standards and fawning over him. He works hard but he doesn't score enough. How is this in any way controversial?

Ollie’s record is outstanding when you consider where we were when he signed for us. Jeez, what a player he is for us.  He’s right up there with the best of any former Villa players, especially when you take into consideration how much the game has moved on, how much quicker it is.

The 3 seasons where we had Yorke in full flow he averaged 15 a season. Benteke was 14, Saunders was 12, for a couple of other players as well.

Yorke averaged slightly more than that

we do need better than a striker who averages 1 in 3.

Weird to pick up on a .33 calculation there, and yet insist Watkins is a 1 in 3 when he is 1 in 2.42.

Last season was an exception until he does it consistently, meaning reaching last season's numbers in consecutive seasons. His level is 1 in 3.

Even if we ignore that, 1 in 2.42 is still not a particularly good record BTW.

Do you think 17 goals in 52 games is good?

You're possibly arguing a little too strenuously given it's one day after he became our leading PL goalscorer.

He consistently scores and assists loads. He misses chances, all forwards do, but you’re massively over emphasising the downside. If you want to look at recent times, he’s in top 5 scorers since January.

With all respect Smirker you are talking out of your arse here. He's not a 1 in 3.

He scored 19 last season and 16 this, but because he didn't score 19 he isn't good enough?

Also 17 goals in 52 games is a bit misleading as he hasn't been starting most matches or playing full matches like he was last season.

Last season he had a goal every 170 mins in the league, this season he had a goal every 150 mins, and he still had two more games to play this season.

See for yourself. He's been here five seasons and four of them he's been 1 in 3. Last season was the exception. 1 in 3 is his level.

That’s some serious hate for Ollie Watkins to go to such lengths to prove your point. Which you haven’t. The day after he breaks the club PL scoring record, what a hill to die on.

In the Premier League he’s comfortably better than 1 in 3 + he gets a lot of assists. You’re wrong on this Smirker, I mean in a factual sense.

Takes look at 22/23, sees he 16 in 40, checks that is lower then 1 in 3, takes a look at 20/21, sees 16 in 40, realises Smirker is talking out of his bum cheeks.

Hate  ;D

Assists again because his goal record isn't good.

Do you think 16 in 40 is a good record? For goals. Nothing else. Just goals.
