There is a stickied thread for reserves, academy and women but it feels out of date plonking the women's side in with the kids.

Aston Villa WSL need their own thread.

Please don't lose hope if it's a 4 or 5 goals to 1 loss. Which is conceivable given the Opposition.
We're building the women's squad  and Man City have a head start.

The odds reflect that 1/40 for Man city to win and at 20/1 for Villa to get a win! 10/1 for a double chance draw or win !

What Villa woman need to do is have high energy and press at the right time from the front. Man city play a possession based and at times slow build up play moving ball and opponent around. Can hope to catch them at the back on the ball or with an error. Would also need full concentration for no basic errors in midfield , defence and with possession for the best result to occur.

Lyon women are the best in the world and everyone wants to play for them . Chelsea and Man City women are trying to reach that level by money but also investment.

However what sets Lyon apart in women's football and at the heart of Lyon achievements is a pervasive ethos that promotes gender equality throughout the club, starting in the youth academy

This team attract the best players in the world and won the women's champions League time and again because they take woman's football Uber professionally and provide the finding and facilities to match.

I hope in time Villa and women's football will be measured in equal standing as the men's even if wages won't have parity there are many woman who can play football as good and better than men

Up the Villa!

5 minutes in and a terrible defensive error gives them the lead.

We'd started well though.

We’ve made some great blocks in our box and played decent passes forward but terrible error to give away goal

Defensive error from City could have led to a Villa goal also. I think we're doing well, we're competing for everything.

Not sure about the Villa keeper, something about her reminds me of nyland.

on the positive side the german in midfield looks very good and the left winger has something about her.

Well indeed. Major gaffe there. We've got the German no1 on the bench, signed from Lyon.

A real shame as we’ve been knocking it around quite well but yes Stanway won’t score 2 easier goals just closing our defenders and keeper down

Too soft for both goals and hasn't commanded the box at all.
