Anyway, Footy, I hope you're right about Cash. Could be an exciting player.

Gilbert was being scouted by Smith before he came to Villa and was one he really rated. Suso may have done the negotiations but Smith talked openly about how much they had scouted him.

As for his form, I think after coming on early for Elmo at the end of the season he had 2 excellent games. I would hate to see him go, think he is miles better in his position than others in theirs across the squad. I have a hunch that they have got Cash in while there was the opportunity to do so and he will play a number of positions next season.

Just a thought if Fulham were interested & we happen to have Cash at the Belfry could you lock the door this time or at least don’t let him walk to his car unaccompanied :-)

Matty Cash was named Forest's Player of the Season by the club's supporters on 12 August 2020.
This speaks a lot about the player we are getting.

Didn't McCormack and Gestede have the same awards when they joined from their respective clubs?

We'd be daft to let Guilbert go.  He could become a tremendous player.

I really like the look of Cash but hope it doesn't compromise our signings up front, I felt we were ok at right back for at least 1 more window.

Ignore if you don't like Vill i an's attitude. Smile if you do. Just don't gang up.

Easier said than done.

Can't you ignore the 'ganging up'? (Which is actually just people taking issue/disagreeing with what's being said)

I've read that, thank you Get Regan, and I completely agree with the points within. However, does a number of people taking issue/disagreeing with another poster constitute ganging up?

Anyway, I'll leave it there.

Up the Villa..

No it doesn't.  If somebody is going to patronise other posters with frequent "I'll explain this to you" type posts, then they can expect those posts to be challenged.

i think we need another right back we only have 4 players who can play that position out of a squad of 25

I would have thought there were other areas of the team that needed improving before signing another right back

Hope he will do well.

It could also well be a deliberate decision to have two types of fullback as options - Cash / Targett more attacking and could play as wingbacks, Guilbert / Taylor (or hopefully Taylor's replacement) more defensive. There's plenty of games in a season for both to get enough starts.
That's how i see it, Cash as a replacement for Elmo in that sense.

This is my thinking as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see Cash being played further up the field in front of Freddie in certain games. I'm happy with the signing!

Nice one. Think it is a position we needed to strengthen so good stuff.

Need a replacement LB and Striker.
