As much as I like Guilbert, as a bloke and (on his day) a player, I am starting to wonder if he's a highlights player.

I don't really think that's a fair thing to say.  He had games where he looked very good, and then like everybody else in the squad, he had games where he was poor.  I think once the centre backs and the keeper situation was less disasterous, the whole tam looked better, including the full backs.

It probably is harsh, I hope it isn't true.

He's had some great games (Arsenal etc.) I guess when I've watched some of his games back I've found myself wondering if the stand out bits of his games (speed overlapping, last ditch tackling, tenacity) cover up for the fact he's not a great attacking fullback or a good defender.

It's bit conspicuous that he didn't get a run all season, just wondering how Smith sees things.

I think it's that he had a player like Elmo who he prpbably saw as a bit more reliable, then for a few games, Konsa who he knows of old.  There's certainly enough there to see he can be a very good player though and so I hope the Cash signing doesn't mean he's off.

Didn't he have an injury during lockdown as well that he was recovering from when we restarted? Maybe I imagined that.

Agree with Risso, I really hope Guilbert stays.

Gary Brazil is Forests Academy Manager.  Still a classy club Forest in my opinion.

Mixture of emotions for the Academy today. Excited for and proud of Matty’s progress throughout his time at the Club. Saddened to lose a lovely human being and someone who has been a wonderful ambassador and embodies everything strong in our Academy. All the very best Cashy 👍👍

What a lovely tweet.

Everything I've read from people associated with Forest about him - fans, club officials - has been universally positive and wishing him luck. Very promising.

Cash - £16m
Appiah - £8m
Brereton - £7m
Osborn - £3.5m
Burke - £13m

Close to £50m in sales of academy graduates in the last few seasons with hundreds of first team appearances between them. Incredible achievement. #NFFC

The lad obviously has plenty of promise. I don't see him walking into the first team, I'd imagine he was purchased with a plan that he would eventually replace Elmo and Dean couldn't risk losing the opportunity to get him in now even if we don't need him immediately.

That said, almost every manager feels the need to justify his purchases and will often play them despite not being up to scratch. Let's hope he doesn't do the same this coming season.

Apparently going to Sheffield Utd so West Brom get to keep Callum Robinson.

Wasn't he close to joining AC Milan in January?  Or was that the lad at Wigan.

Both I think. Milan did make an offer according to The Athletic piece. Good for Cash he’s ended up joining a bigger club.

RB Leipzig bid £6m for him in 2017.  I’ve just noticed he only has one year left on his deal at Forest so the fee is rather steep.

Ahem. It wasn't that good the first time, K? ;)

Have been pondering and now think signing swift and cash would be making a fast buck for reading and Forrest.Literally.

When we play away the latter will be our Man in Black. Literally. :)
