I'm inclined to agree.  I'd hang on to him until at least January and then decide.

He needs to play so we can see if he's up to it. If he's not going to get regular games for us then I'd prefer a loan to an English team for the year. I just wish the baggies weren't the club asking for him.

I like him, I think he could become a very good player for us, even if not an automatic starter.  We have signed many players over the last few years, especially from overseas, who haven't immediately shone and have been let go, only to quickly show their worth once they've gone.  He needs to be given some time to become a good'un with us.

And if he is to be got rid of, it it absolutely should not be to a club in the premier league who may be a candidate for relegation this season!

Was reading earlier that Palace are selling Sorloth, who's been utter garbage since joining them but had a good season in Turkey last year. They had an agreement with Fenerbahce that they had him for this season with an option to buy next year for £5m, but Leipzig want him so are paying £20m now and Palace are splitting it 50-50 with Fenerbahce.

I agree. He came in at a time when we were on our knees and he had to settle into a new country. That alone should buy him some time. If you add in Covid and lockdown it seems incredibly early to write him off.

The player who played for us in those early league games (Bournemouth, Tottingham at home) and in the cup against Leicester and Citeh looked a world away from the player post lockdown.

I would put that down to lockdown in a foreign country and our uber defensive (vaguely Pulis approach) after June. For me he's worth persisting with if we're trying to play a more expansive game again.

But if he was never Smudger's choice from the outset and he believes he can get better in let's see how it plays out.

I'd keep Samatta for this coming season unless there's an offer of £20m or so to bring in a replacement. What with the compressed fixture list and Wes out of action until at least Christmas, think we'll need him around the squad.

Letting him go is a clear indication, if it were needed, that another striker is already in the bag. If we can recoup our money on him, then I think it’s good business. Shame it hasn’t worked out for him here, but there you go.

Yes, he looked pretty average last season but getting better service into the box would undoubtedly help him. I'm no great fan of his, but we bought him for some reason or other and maybe in a squad role he will feel less pressure and add to a game in the last 20 minutes.
Davis should be the one going out on loan. Maybe sell Samatta in January when Wes has got back up to speed.
