Some of Pearce commentary had obviously been added on after the game which seems a bit disingenuous to me!

Which bits? They mentioned Ollie the previous week as well.
He was particularly harsh on Ramsey , ignored the player who cynically fouled him and could have brought on a long term injury and focused upon Ramsey's "petulant immature" reaction . TWhat .

But was that the bits added in after the match?

And it was an immature reaction as the ref had blown and the player probably getting a yellow. And instead he picked up one as well and got Martinez one as well (Although I think that was just a shit ref not realising Emi was captain and thinking he had just ran to get involved for no reason.

Indeed Ramsey’s reaction was daft - I understand it, but it’s daft.
Think it was a culmination of several fouls on him and that one finally got to him .again I think it's poor refereeing that ends up with him getting booked .
AFC dark Arts were at it all afternoon today .

The ref was calling pretty much everything a foul though. That was mostly the reason we had 7 mins of stoppages in the first half. He might not have been getting his card out as much as he should have, but Ramsey's first booking was nothing but his fault. (And the same with his second.)

BUT the initial discussion was Crown Hill stating he thought Pearce had recorded lines after the match, so was that one of them?

No don't think there was any post recording going on . Do they ever do that ?
I was surprised they kind of laid into Ramsey though and also Mings for an elbow (well shay Given did ) .

It has been mentioned before, no idea though and obviously they say they don't normally apart from rare times the audio has corrupted at a key moment.

As for the elbow, I suspect not much else in the match AND the geezer apparently suffering a fractured jaw meant it became a talking point. Very noticeable both outfield players thought it was nothing, but the keeper thought differently. Although didn't he used to play with Shearer? Maybe he had one too many of Shearers "accidentals" in training.

A lot of neutrals (even those who wanted us to win) thought that Mings was a bit fortunate not to be sent off. For me, he probably knew what he was doing, but didn't swing his elbow so it wasn't a red.

They have just showed the away table since the start of the year. Brentford are top with 22 from 27, but we are third level with Arsenal (they have played one less) and a point ahead of Liverpool.

it was pure accident , they were both smiling and having a quick handshake after . Given seemed intent on looking for something that was not there .

I don't think it was deliberate, but it was a definite 'I'm not looking so can't be done, but I know you're there, so I'll throw out an arm to make a bigger target for you to run around' move.

Anyone who thinks our Tyrone isn't capable of such dark arts should remember his 'whoops, I accidentally stepped on Ibramihovich's head' caper before we signed him.

Blimey , didn't think we'd be there .

Don't forget he used to play for 'AFC dark Arts' [sic] before he played for us.

Overall form table in the league, home and away, since we lost to Palace away in late Feb, over 8 games, we’re top, won 7 lost 1.

They have been doing the adding in and editing over commentary for years. Pearce's stuff is the most obvious.

Anyone who thinks Jonathan Pearce has an 'anti-Villa' agenda clearly hasn't watched MOTD much.

He worked as sports journo in West Midlands during 1980-81 season and think was a season ticket holder in Holte. I don't think he is anti Villa at all.

His team is Bristol City

I quite often think most of the commentary was added afterwards. It seems stilted and like they know what's coming.

I think when I was growing up MOTD was genuine highlights so the best bits taken from the days action with commentary as it happened.

Now because of the pundits and the after match interviews they try and create a narrative for each match. That’s what annoyed me yesterday.  Not that Pearce was biased against us but that it was so contrived and 20/20 hindsight. When you’ve watched the match live already it’s easy to know how the commentator was spontaneously reacting to the pictures. Pearce is particularly obvious to pick because he reads the script like an actor rather than a commentator.
