Watching MOTD 2, Alex Scott is an appalling host.

Good evenin', wasss appnin', Birminun etc. She's thick as mince.

When did speaking properly become redundant as a requirement for being a BBC presenter? Pundits yeah, they've never been the brightest, but there should be a standard for a presenter and she falls way below what I would expect from someone anchoring a show.

Also, if you thought our non VAR decision was bad, have a look at the Palace "goal'. Eze scores a worldie from a FK but as the ball is about to hit the net, the ref blows his whistle for a supposed foul on the edge of the box. There was no foul and VAR would have ruled the goal was fine but the ref had already blown his whistle a split second before the ball hit the net so VAR can't get involved.

Absolute farce.

I'm not mad keen on her, but I fail to see why her accent makes her 'thick as mince'

Some achievement that - we go from 4th to 9th in 24 hours and only 2 games happened in between.

Still had time for Danny Murphy to discuss Liverpool. Not to mention this headline. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cn02gdl9wyvo

Liverpool were gash first half. 2nd, Ipswich ran out of steam understandably and it was a  comfortable win.  Breathtaking, it certainly wasn't.

The TNT weekend wrap review of our game was equally shocking. Focused on the West Ham pen and how the officials got it spot on, then 5 minutes on how West Ham will be fine this season. Not a mention of us.

It's not her accent that makes her thick as mince, her accent is terrible for a presenter though.

She is thick as mince based on everything I've ever heard her say. The accent just makes her nonsense sound worse.

I no longer watch MOTD. My friend and yours  Mr Hugh Tube provides me with more highlights than the BBC ever show!

Yes, well done for beating newly-promoted Ipswich Town. A monumental result like that deserves its own flag, at the very least.

You did actually reference speaking properly for a BBC presenter, how thoroughly patronising. I dont care either way about Alex Scott, I absolutely have idea of her level of intelligence and I would guess nor do you, but you clearly are basing your assumptions on her accent.
I have met plenty of people in my working life that make assumptions about my level of intelligence based seemingly on my strong brummie accent. If I can be arsed to slip in to the conversation I have a PhD, without fail, the attitude changes. What plums people are, making judgements on others in this way.

I am not judging her intelligence on the way she speaks and I've said that twice now!

I judge her intelligence on WHAT she says.

The second thing is that her accent grates on me and I don't think it's good enough for a BBC presenter to speak so poorly.

I am not saying that she is thick BECAUSE of her accent. Do you understand that now?

At no point did I ever mention the fact she is a woman.

Are you suggesting that you cannot criticise someone who happens to be female even though it has nothing to do with it?

I'd say that's a rather sexist thing to suggest if so. How ironic.

It’s a bit rum to mention her accent though. Most of the people using this forum will have faced prejudice about their regional accent (more than people from most other areas). It’s not helpful to judge people on something so unimportant.

I've heard plenty of people on this very forum complain about people saying Birminun etc... it's infuriating. But seemingly because it's a woman, everyone is jumping to her defence.

Joe Cole does it for example and gets pelters for it on here.

Fine. I think she is a poor broadcaster and not up to the job. And not because of the way she speaks. (Tho I still find it annoying)

I hope that's cleared that up now and we can move on.

Anyone writing 'tho' should not really comment on other people's language though. ;-)
