Maybe back in it. Need to be chasing fewer than 200, ideally.

Bad collapse with the bat though, we should've been batting out the day and taking a lead into the 2nd innings.

I reckon we're fucked now, no chance we're winning this from here.

Need to at least get a draw as that would take us level with Kent I think. Then their next game is Hants away while ours is Gloucestershire away.

Dismal season just gets worse. Vital that we stay up now. Though, thanks to the usual ECB not giving a shit about the county game, we don't know what we need to stay up or even if there will be two, three or just one division next year.

Yep, been a real shitter of a season tbh.  The quarter final of the T20 Blast was a shocker and the County Championship has just been downhill after a promising first coup,e of games.  The bright sparks from last year (Yates etc.) haven't fired, the new signings (Davies etc.) have been largely disappointing, Sibley, Stone and Hose are all leaving along with Farbrace and there has been no sign of Chris Woakes all season.  Suppose one of the the only bright points is that Sam Hain has had a very consistent season again.

There just seems to be no ambition at the club anymore and it is all about brand 'Edgbaston'.

I think injuries screwed us, we had 6 or 7 seam bowlers injured at once early in the season and it just broke any positivity around the squad. T20 season was ok and there were positives in the one-day cup before the QF.

The only championship game where they are still playing is at Edgbaston. The Bears need 123 off 15 with four wickets left, one of which is Sam Hain who has 50.

I’m not hopeful……

Somerset get what they deserve for carrying on batting for at least ten too many overs. They're still not safe, eight points clear of Bears and Kent. Gloucestershire likely doomed even if they get maximum points from their remaining games.

Not an amazing start for the Bears (73 for 3), but we are, at least, doing better than Kent (39 for 5). Somerset have started the best of the relegation contenders (55 for 1).

We need to win this one with a many bonus points as possible and hope that one of Kent or Somerset lose, with them playing each other in the final round that would put us in control of our destiny.

On that basis being 6 down and still short of the first batting point is a terrible first day. Everytime we start to get a partnership going we lose a wicket and Sibley has to start again.

Kent 165 all out..  if we can reach 200 we are out of the relegation zone, at least temporarily.

Fair play to Briggs, that's a big innings from an 8. Hopefulyl we can push on and get at least another bonus point now.
