The pivot position is a thankless task. I remember people saying we shouldn't play Petrov because he only ever passed the ball backwards or sideways.

Then think of the Galactico Real Madrid team where only Makelele's teammates appreciated what he gave the side.

Literally stealing a living as a professional footballer. I expect players to be at least be able to find a team mate with a simple pass or not give away the ball away in dangerous positions, but he’s guilty of this more often than not and puts unnecessary pressure on our defence time and time again. Simply not good enough. Get rid.

And that’s not “baiting” or “hounding”…it’s just my honest opinion on him.

At the ground yesterday I would rate his passing stats as the best in the team. I’m sure some statto will correct me but that’s how it looked to me. Just my honest opinion based on my observations on the day.
Marv was the only Villa midfielder doing his job properly yesterday.
Let down a little by those around him not doing theirs.

McGinn and Luiz have 5 goals between them this season. That's not enough from two midfield regulars if you want to be getting closer to that top 8.

One thing can probably take is a defensive midfielder from Belgian league isn't meeting required standard for a top 6 top 8 or even top half team in the Prem.
Naka won the league at the dominant club Brugge but the jump in level is too big for him to take us to the next level.

File him with Target Hourihane Steer as players who simply had to be upgraded

That is the worst cameo I have ever seen. Ruined our shape, misplaced passes and slow to the loose ball.

Take PC off for Nakamba…and it all goes to shit. Entirely predictable.

This guy is not a footballer by any stretch of the imagination. Anyone who thinks this guy is up to it really needs their head read. You can’t complain how bad we are, how many games we lose, say our players aren’t good enough…yet justify this guy being good enough to be part of our squad let alone fit enough to wear the shirt in any Villa game. You can’t have it both ways.

Total shit. Get rid.

If the score went the same way and we hadn’t of made this substitution we would have said why didn’t we shut up shop and put Nakamba on.

Turds need flushing.  Nakamba, Luiz and McGinn in the same flush.  I hope we address our midfield this summer.  Only Ramsey, Buendia and Phil should be safe.  Tim out on loan, Carney, not so sure but the mainstay of our midfield has lost us so many games this season.

As I have said on this thread previously, there is a reason he’s been in and ( mostly) out of the team for 3 years. It’s because he’s not very good.

Not even a squad player for where we want to get to.

I said before that he’s at best a back up footballer. And that’s when he is fully fit. Throwing him into a fast paced game vs a very desperate Man City…well it turned out as it did. But in truth he’s not the only squad player we have in midfield right now. With the exception of Ramsey who will get better they all are.

midfield isn't good enough by a long shot - Nakamba does improve the side because he's the only player who can do that job - however, he doesn't do it well enough, and needs upgrading.

Maybe our manager hadn't got s clue how to organise a midfield regardless of personnel.

Well we'll never know until he gets some decent midfielders. McGinn and Luiz can happily join Watkins in the same taxi to anywhere else.
