Feel sorry for him. Always gave his all but we don't need him in the same way we did two years ago. At least he got to play his part in our greatest moment this century and I wish him well, preferably at a less scummy club than Juventus.

This is a massive transfer window for us, and we have to be really strategic.

Unfortunately for Dougie, I just don't think we have the spare cash.

Seeing the way he was buzzing during and after the game last week makes me sad to see him go, it's a shame we cant just throw money around willy nilly and just sign him to be a kind of footballing Bez for this team.

Yeah, we could be the first club to deploy maracas.

Yeah a shame. I’ve always rated Dougie and was really pleased to see him back, but didn’t quite click.

That said, he was a really important player in his first run here and it all ended a bit sadly. So I hope him getting on the pitch and being part of our first trophy win for 30 years, and closing out with that nice win at Citeh is much better closure on his Villa career.

Probably the right decision - I thought he has looked good for us - but ultimately too expensive for where we are.

Gutted, he’s an ace and loved him coming back, was gutted he left in the first place. Glad he was involved a little and enjoyed the final and celebrations. All the best Dougie

It’s the right decision but great he got to enjoy a more fitting end to his time with us. He’s had some misfortune with managerial changes and injuries in the last couple of years but does look like he’s gone in a very different direction to our trajectory.

We've moved on. He's not good enough for us and the past couple of years suggest he's going to have a drop a fair bit down the food chain to find a club he is good enough for.

Yep, he probably left at the right time for him and us (despite things not working out at Juve) but I'm glad he got hte chance to come back and have a proper farewell along with a medal.

I thought he was decent when he came back, given he was thrown straight in at a time when  we were really struggling, and he was hardly at full fitness. He was conspicuous in trying to make things happen during that difficult spell, when we were without Kamara, McGinn and Tielemans, and I thought he was improving game by game.

I completely agree.  I think his wages are probably the big blocker in an position where we are relatively deep compared to other areas of the pitch
