I just find it absolutely  baffling that he is getting so little game time.  Surely going with a experienced  head like dougie is better than bogarde.

I think the logic is that Bogarde is there to break up play in the absence of Kamara and Onana, something which isnt DL's game.

Not that it's really Bogarde's game either, on the evidence of the last couple of months.

I’d take him on loan again next season if we clear out Barkley, Bogarde and Buendia.  Some continuity will be needed and Luiz appears to get us.

Indeed, I get the logic but even though that’s Doug’s weaker suite I would suggest he’s much better than Bogarde at it. I have sympathy for Bogarde, but this won’t be helping his development either.

Yes Bogarde should of been taken off yesterday either at half tine or just after. Was not as bad as Barkley or even Tielemans, but everytime he got the ball there was anxiety in the crowd which can’t be good for him.
I have a massive soft spot for Dougie, even with that I can see he’s not the same player as two years ago, but he’s still decent. As Bronte said he was lively at Fulham and Forest. If Onana is out, I really hope Emery doesnt persist with Bogarde, he’ll be destroyed by Anderson. Bring Dougie in even it means having to adapt the way we are set up.

On paper I agree with you, but bogarde has been absolutely  atrocious in the role. For me he is terrible  DM. He is inst bad at rb and cb so for me emery  needs to get dougie  in there  with mcginn and youri. Thats a aggressive  CM and veey creative

Dougie has to start for me Thursday  night. He has a point to prove and dougie has really stepped up in big games for us in the past

He should start next to McGinn but he won't. Like a lot of managers Emery can be quite stubborn. Bogarde will start with Tielemans if Onana is out.

If Onana is out I would go:

                 Emi
Cash Konsa Pau Digne/Maatsan
          mcginn luiz
    rogers youri beunida
               ollie

Bogarde is young, in poor form and lacking confidence.  Hell probably never be up to this standard (I hope he is) and the risk isnt needed.

I'd rather play Maatsen wide left than Buendia, we are crying out for more pace.

I'm surprised Garcia is not being played on the right, instead of the 'Sancho compromise' approach.

Maatsens stats were appalling on Sunday. He just didn't put a shift in at all. He gave them so much time on the ball. They all did but he was one of the worst. He was either saving himself for Thursday because he knows he's playing or he just doesn't give a fuck. If he does start he needs to massively improve. Starting with the basic. Effort.

Porro had Maatsen in his pocket. He's a bit of a headless chicken at times.

Nobody put a shift in on Sunday but in defence of Maatsen, he looked completely isolated on the left side, having next to no options when he came forward and getting caught at the back with no support with Rogers doing one of his roaming around and can't be arsed to get back games.

Can't blame Rogers for Maatsen's control of the ball and running it out of play constantly like Forrest Gump.
