If selling Doug is only about complying with PSR, then why does it appear that we may well also be selling Cash and Duran for around £70m? By all accounts, we're likely on the right side of PSR so the money from selling Cash, let alone all 3 would be enough.

For me, it's an indicator that we intend on using our new status as a Champions League team to spend heavily this summer. After all, if we're raising a book value of £140m (minus the first year of amortisation fees for Illing-Junior and McKennie), then we'll have plenty of room for the first year amortisation fees of other players.

As Emery thinks we can improve at right back and up front too.

It is counter intuitive right now, because the situation is so annoying, but the parallel world where the rules don’t exist would probably be worse.

My point is about the belief that selling Doug is solely about PSR.

I do, as I've said before I reckon the amount of money they're willing to throw at Newcastle is a lot lower than people expect because of the impact of Neom which I beleive is their real priority.

Who?

Our double player of the year in 2023, best and most consistent player over the first two thirds of last season, penalty taker and clearly an influence in the dressing room. I don't see any positives with this, he leaves a massive hole.

Everyone talks about how he tailed off after January but it was only really the last 6 or 7 weeks of the season when his form really suffered. And he was knackered.

He has been a mainstay of the team for five years, stepped up after lockdown when we needed to stay up and improved year on year after that. He always seems to genuinely love playing for us too. It's rubbish that his leaving and even more so if it is mostly driven by crappy financial rules which do nothing but protect the twatty clubs who already spent their Dosh to grow their revenue sources.

Couldn’t agree more. It’s utter shite.

And me.

What. It's the Saudi Supercity that they're trying to create which had an initial cost estimate of $500bn but more recent estimates are $1.5tn - the idea is pretty impressive but they're struggling to fund it and there are huge amounts of delays already. https://www.neom.com/en-us

Me 3, most talented player at the club. Losing him makes us in no way stronger. It hugely weakens us.

Is that the big line thing that looks like the setting of a sci-fi film?
