Potentially not but none of us know where we are on the PSR stuff, our appetite to risk a breach, or Doug’s view. It makes it really hard to assess what will actually happen. I hope he stays, but I fear he won’t.

If we were potentially looking to cash in on Doug, I wonder if the price is potentially lower until next month as it would be better for our books?

I’d be tempted to take the points deduction if I was NSWE. But then if I was NSWE I’d sell Bodymoor, the inner-city academy,  the Holte Hotel and the club shop to myself - like, if I had to.

Two issues at large here , FFP and a possible release clause. I think we need better if we want to progress in the EPL and ECL, Luiz is a great top 5-8 player but has hit his ceiling inho.

I think you’re very wrong in your assessment.

Well there’s a reason he gets linked with the clubs he does. If you think his ceiling is 5-9 you presumably didn’t watch him in the first of the season or the second half of last season. That’s when he was able to play his best role and he was one of the best players in the league.

I think he's a really good player I do , but when we got in the pressure cooker those last couple of months he went into his shell. Also too many errors , silly fouls committed , turnovers etc (see wolves away) .

It's better than months or so ago when he, and the rest of the players, weren't top 10 standard.

Or his drop in form coincided exactly with Kamara getting injured and him having to take on a role that clearly isn’t his best. The ceiling, if he’s reached it, is what he did in the first half of the season. That is pretty special.

Yes but I'm not using that yardstick, for where we want to go , Win the league and European cup I think we need better in this critical role .

But as demonstrated he can be one of the best midfielders in the league.

Agree, it's a shame we didn't have him and Kamara as a pair for the second half the season , plus Mings Buendia Ramsey . With them we are in the top 2 I think.

How many of our players weren't blowing out of their assholes in the last six weeks?  The Kamara injury effectively left the midfield in a pretty difficult situation.

I like everyone else don’t know financially exactly where we are and what we may or may not need to do.
But Douglas Luiz and Boubacar Kamara on form playing together are as good a pair of midfield players in the Premier League. They were a big part of why we dominated Manchester City last December among many other teams during last season
To lose one would be a big setback and not easy to replace.
