Douglas Luiz was the protagonist in tonight's Greek tragedy.I couldn't believe he missed the penalty as Quote from: Brazilian Villain on May 02, 2024, 10:09:27 PMQuote from: Footy-Vill on May 02, 2024, 04:57:51 PMDouglas Luiz has scored all his goals this season at Villa Park.I think the officials will award a penalty and Douglas will score. Can you please predict Olympiacos to go through next week?Douglas Luiz was the protagonist in tonight's Greek tragedy.I couldn't believe he missed the penalty!!!
I honestly think Douglas needs the summer to recuperate. He is not and never has been the most physical of players and I am sure a lot of it is mental tiredness. He's had a fantastic season but it just isn't ending very well for him.
He seems to be getting quite overemotional lately. Not the smooth operator he used to be - easily riled and lacking focus. Wonder what's going on with him, as it feels like more than just a dip in form. Hopefully that's all it is, though.

Been poor recently but is class underneath. Needs his buddy back in the middle with him.

Yes, now you mention it, Luiz has been a lot quieter since Kamara got injured. That defensive mid position needs strengthening in the summer. It only took one injury to chuck a sizeable spanner in the works of how we play.

Well he's not going to be back until at least November, so that's not great.

Unless something has changed in the last few weeks he's the player who has covered the most distance for us, has played the most minutes other than Konsa and has spent the last couple of months pushed back into a deeper position where he's never looked as good as he does in his normal role. I think Physical and mental tiredness are both clear to see in his game right now and the break for his suspension has, if anything, made that even worse. It's like taking a minute towards the end of a long run and then realising it was only willpower that was keeping you going and the end being pure agony at every step, the break felt like a good idea but turned out to be the very worst thing that could've happened.

Remind me again when anybody has mentioned 'Rolls Royce' when describing his performances? He's been on cruise control apart from celebrating out win in Lille.
