At least we finally have proof that it is not missing players which has caused his poor performances, just missing desire and application. Because a penalty being given away stupidly, and another not even being placed on target has nothing to do with Kamara being missing. Just being his 200th appearance should have been enough to make a player want to apply themselves.

Douglas Luiz has scored all his goals this season at Villa Park.
I think the officials will award a penalty and Douglas will score.

Can you please predict Olympiacos to go through next week?

He was apologising to the crowd after the game, so it's not like he doesn't know how he's playing. I think there's just been so much disruption to the midfield that they're all struggling a bit.

There was disruption after his 10th yellow, but we coped with that admirably in the league, but poorly in the competition he could still play in. Tielemans injury so he can't play instead of Luiz is the killer the next few matches.

Tonight was just further proof he’s not the right person to help take us to where we need to go. Not a gut reaction. Never really rated him but he did have a great opening half to the season.

If ever a player looked like he is on his farewell tour.
Hopefully he can muster enough pride to Help us seal a Champions League place as a goodbye  gesture.

Yep agreed, he’s clearly struggling. I empathise because he’s not trying to play badly, clearly. Horrible performance tonight though, I hope he can turn it round asap.

He’s been one of my favourite players in recent years and a massive reason why our form has been unbelievable brilliant under Emery. He’s out of form, that’s all.

Superb tonight 👎

Going to try to stay calm but we wouldn't be sitting in a European semi final if he hadn't been magnificent last season for us to get us to 7th and we wouldn't be top 4 if he hadn't been magnificent, as in world class, in the first half of this season when he was King of Villa Park and scoring more goals from midfield than any player since Ian Taylor.

I honestly think Douglas needs the summer to recuperate.  He is not and never has been the most physical of players and I am sure a lot of it is mental tiredness.  He's had a fantastic season but it just isn't ending very well for him.

He seems to be getting quite overemotional lately. Not the smooth operator he used to be - easily riled and lacking focus. Wonder what's going on with him, as it feels like more than just a dip in form. Hopefully that's all it is, though.

I still think he’s great. I imagine today will hurt him at lot as I genuinely thinks he cares for the club.

Agreed, some right nonsense being posted about him tonight.

Yes, football is brutal.

We never would have got into the premier league had it not been for  Hourihane’s contributions/goal involvements. He was a valuable and likable player for where we were at that time. I think Doug falls into the same bracket.  He’s good enough to be on the bench next season, but would he want it? Would we? Probably better to take the 80 million and both parties endeavor to write a new chapter in their lives. Either way, massive appreciation for his contribution to help is get to this stage.
