It’s not just about the yellow card - he commits stupid fouls in dangerous positions match after match. One led to Foden’s first goal the other night, another to West Ham’s disallowed goal the other week. Emery needs to have words, because while he’s a fine player, this is a fatal flaw.
He is not a defensive player, with Kamara gone he is having to do more of the defensive work and he is not great at that.
Both of these posts are absolutely correct.

Totally agree, this is one of the positions I feel we need to prioritise in the summer. That doesn’t mean I want shot of Douglas it just means we need more cover in that position. Douglas has never been the most physical of players.

It didn't feel season defining at the time, but in hindsight letting Dendonker go out on loan to a club who now can't afford him seems a misstep.

Not a player who you'd build a team around, admittedly.  But the closest midfielder we have to Kamara.

Played centre back at Wolves and Anderlecht too, on occasion. More of a goal threat than Diego Carlos, who seems a bit rubbish in both penalty areas.

As much as he’s improved us I feel he will get his move in the summer if we get £60 million +. That would be good enough to get two decent replacements.

Two mid table replacements maybe

Yep, especially as Kamara might miss the start of the season.  I definitely think we need a bit more physicality and 'bite' in central midfield.

We don’t have anyone else that is comfortable taking the ball off the defence like Luis so he’d be hard to replace.

Ideally we need a more genuine 6 so we are less reliant on Kamara.  I’d lose Tieleman’s before Luiz but Luiz is likely to attract a bigger fee. I guess it depends how big the FFP hole is.

It will be a total of 8 games lost to suspension for Kamara, McGinn and Luiz, and they were all very avoidable.

The Dendoncker move seems pointless all-round. I don't think he's getting a look-in at all at Napoli and wasn't in the latest Belgian squad. He would get a game for us now but instead we're saving at most a couple of hundred grand a month of salary.

You'd wonder how stretched we are with FFP and all the rest of it if we can't stump up the loan cancellation fee/have his wages back on the books.

We cancelled Bert's loan deal last year when we couldn't bring anyone else in at the back end of the Jan transfer window in 2022/23. And that was intended to be a full season-long loan.

Emery might not rate the Donk as a long term option, but seems a no brainer to get him back in the current circumstances.

Pretty sure he can't be cancelled even if both clubs wanted it.

In todays market 60 million would be a pathetic deal for a player of his quality

9 as Luiz was also banned for one match for 5 in 19 as well.

Having watched back Brentfords third goal, before the calamitous defending from Konsa, Torres and Carlos, what on earth was Dougie doing giving them the ball back so quickly and in the perfect position to take the FK quickly?

I thought the booking was harsh at the time but just watched it back and it was the correct decision. It really was a bit daft from Dougie.

Anyway all this talk of potential transfer fees for him, makes me twitchy, would pretty much hate to lose any of Martinez, Torres, Kamara, Dougie, McGinn, Ramsey,  Watkins or Bailey.

I didn't class that as that happens to players. To avoid this 2 game ban all he had to do was not get booked in both games, but he did including late on, pretty needlessly from what i've read.
