Worst midfielder today, then a mind numbingly stupid foul with seconds to go 🙄
*Should have been hooked instead of Tielemans tbh

He’ll be fresh for both the Lille games.

He'll be fresh for the second leg. The home leg against Lille is our next game so it doesn't make a difference to his freshness. He's a fucking imbecile.

Agree he’s looked a bit flat at times of late, still not ideal to lose him for two games.

We get McGinn back and now he is out for 2 games.
We just don’t have the squad depth to cover this.

Recently Emery said on Luiz:
"The most important thing is, tactically, allowing him to play with freedom.
The second most important thing is him
Because now he is very focused on football. When I got here, he was playing, more or less, but he was not playing consistently in the starting eleven. When we arrived, I think progressively with us, he is getting better with his mentality."

Emery wants consistency and Luiz appears to adopt a consistent fouler approach!  He's given away the most fouls for Villa. And is ranked joint 3rd for most fouls in the league. Luiz is now a top four player league for fouls!
He has improved in all aspects aside from his discipline . And as a student of the game shown focus and advancement.

No midfielder in the Premier League has scored more in the competition since the start of last season. His number of passes and number of touches are all highest ever been per match and Douglas is our selected penalty taker and scored all 4 taken.

It's just his discipline now that needs improvement.

Thought he was really poor yesterday and guilty of slowing the tempo down too much. Plus the silly fouls he concedes.

Emery has said on Douglas Luiz. "He will face Lille in two matches. He'll rest against Arsenal and Bournemouth. Maintaining emotional control is critical"

It’s not just about the yellow card - he commits stupid fouls in dangerous positions match after match. One led to Foden’s first goal the other night, another to West Ham’s disallowed goal the other week. Emery needs to have words, because while he’s a fine player, this is a fatal flaw.

He is not a defensive player, with Kamara gone he is having to do more of the defensive work and he is not great at that.

He did it a lot in season 1 , then seemed to improve , now he's back doing it again .

Seems to coincide with him playing as more of a 6 then.
