Was there an issue with Luiz getting a work permit when he was at Man City? That's why they had to keep loaning him out? Seems to have worked in our favour in the long run.

I’m sure there was too.  I think he could get a work permit whilst at villa because he was considered an integral part of the squad (wages) whereas at Man City that was considered a reserves’ wage.

That’s how i remember it but no idea what rules where being applied or if I completely imagined it.

So Arsenal are going to offer us a player we don't want or need, who's never fit for a player we do need, who's never injured.
The media presumably just expect us to roll over & comply with the big boys request.
I understand that in the past we have lost key players, but things are different now.

You have to laugh at the speculated value of Dougie in the media. Provided there's not a specific release clause in his contract he won't be going anywhere, and certainly not for £60m.

If it were £60m he'd literally already be gone, should he wish it. Basic logic:

Arsenal interested in him;

Arsenal signed Havertz for £60m to play in midfield;

Luiz had a miles better last season than Havertz.

Citeh failed to get a work permit for him initially so sent him on loan he came back signed for us for £15m, we got a permit, but Citeh retained a £25m buyback clause which they did not trigger.  Hence our gain.

Oh FFS, international duty injury incoming. :(

Rice and Caicedo going for £100m have set the benchmark.

We should be grateful to doff our caps, take a sicknote player who turned us down previously so that The Arsewipes can pay less than they want to for a player we do not want to sell.
Having said that does his new contract have a price clause in it ?

Well, if his new contract does have a price clause in it, we should find a buyer outside the premier league and not give those Arseholes the satisfaction of getting one of our best players  on the cheap.

Or just give him a nice bump-up in pay in return for signing a new long-term contract with no release clause.

If there is a clause then the Smith-Rowe links don't make sense because his value is subjective and wouldn't be counted towards triggering anything.

Almost like they're just making it up as they go along...
