Doug stood his ground, nothing more. Mitrovic should be getting 3 games for that shit. Utter disgrace of a footballer with his behaviour.

surely this is bringing the game into disrepute or fucking cheating Bamford style

In Aussie Rules, the weekly review board can hand out retrospective punishments. Not that you’d expect the Premier League to manage that without fucking up in favour of their chosen few.

Anyone see the interviews pitch side after the match? Dublin and Ferdinand started to discuss the incident with one of them starting to mention how they disliked the play acting (cheating, basically) in the modern game when Mitrovic must have appeared out of shot to be interviewed. Cue slight panic and a pathetic change of direction with a mutual appreciation ensuing between the three of them. Mitrovic thought it was a red card because Doug apparently hit him on the nose with his head. No injuries/marks visible on his face though.

Both the red and the pen were wrong, and I said that on the match thread. Disgraceful refereeing.
And Oliver is supposedly our best ref?! - joke.

Yep
That’s how I saw it. Also the original aggressor was Mitrocic even before the shameful play acting.

This is what Mitrović needed, along with some common sense refereeing. https://twitter.com/FBAwayDays/status/1563852119878389760

The referee and Mitrovic should both be called in front of the FA to explain their actions. I said at the time how Mitrovic must have magic skin. They did a close up on him when he took the penalty and there wasn't a mark on him even though he lay on the ground holding his face for ages until that idiot ref sent Doug off. The ref looked at a tiny screen on a lap top and decided to send him off. That was scandalous. I couldn't even tell if there was any contact and I was looking at my 50 inch screen in my living room. And the icing on the cake for that shithouse Mitrovic was that his son was sat in the stand watching him. We all know it had no bearing on the result because we were completely outplayed  but that's irrelevant. They should be having a good look at that incident and asking questions of Oliver and Mitrovic.

If it’s been overturned , it yet again shows what a shower of shit VAR  is. It was VAR intervention to start with.

Love it. What a different world. I know throwing a punch isn’t right, but emotion is part of the game. It’s such a shame that the likes of Mitrovic or that cu*t at Leeds as well as many others try to get players sent off.

If you like that, you might enjoy this analysis of a brawl in the 1996 All-Ireland Final on Gaelic football's MOTD equivalent.

As the more disapproving of the pundits says, the referee could have warned the two captains "but somebody had to go". :)

Ah, the great Pat Spillane. Not a Kerryman but that was a great team.

Nah, he stayed down "injured" when Roscommon were on top in the first half in 1980 and broke my 10 year old heart.

FWIW members of that great Kerry team reckoned the 1980 final was the one they should have lost. :'(

Coming from a football mad county with one solitary losing final appearance, I don’t have much truck with other’s sob stories. Sorry.
