The lot of them are exploitative scum who refuse to pay their players.

Coming from a football mad county with one solitary losing final appearance, I don’t have much truck with other’s sob stories. Sorry.

Ha, I suppose my Louth supporting friends would say the same. At least we have the occasional provincial title to look forward to, and Roscommon and Monaghan are probably the two main overachievers in football when you consider population size.

Dublin population 1.5 million, Leitrim 35,000. It’s unbalanced enough. Going pro would kill the game.

As good a game as I can remember him having for us. Superb and very nearly scored from a corner again.

Playing him as DM never worked. Dean Smith moved him there after he showed such promise in a more advanced position and he did well as we stayed up. But that’s not his best position. Smith didn’t figure it out and Gerrard rarely played him anyway. Put him next to a more stay at home DM he showed what a cultured competent player he is. Upgrade Dendoncker with Kamala and we will see the best of Doug. McGinn should never start again in this midfield.

Great in defence and on the attack apparently

It’s mad that he could hardly get in the team until Kamara got injured. My ten year-old son would have been an upgrade on McGinn, never mind Dougie.

To think, slippy almost lost him on us.

Nonsense, he signed a new contract under Gerrard a few weeks back and got plenty of game time under him. (I'm sure he knew Gerrard was on borrowed time).

Luiz is better on the front foot rather than moping up in front of the defence. A superb display today and for me, his best in a Villa shirt.

Excuse me? He has been a bit part player for a while and Gerrard made some very odd comments about him at times.

But how can a professional not see this though? I know a lot of us are armchair manager twats but something like this is so patently obviously. I can't get my head around not being able to see it.

What a colossus today! A superb performance from Dougie.
Totally dominated the midfield along with Emi and Leander.
Seemed to have a great understanding going with Dendoncker...when one stepped forward the other stepped back.
