Right now he's our best No 8 and our second best DM.  Selling him would be absolutely nuts.

Letting him go for free next summer is hardly an acceptable alternative either. If Luiz is allowed to go, I expect we will have a replacement number 8 lined up instead of him (and Sanson). I'd far prefer if we got in a second 6 to partner Kamara in a 4231 rather than this horrible 3 man midfield.

It's more acceptable than further derailing our season.

If the player wants to leave and won't sign a new contract, and 9 months left on his current deal, the club will accept the best price they are offered.

I'd sell either way, but then again i wouldn't have him in the team with everyone fit. Yes, he's tidy on the ball etc but he doesn't perform any particular role well enough. Not in this league anyway.

That’s fine if they replace him - if they don’t it’s negligent.

Gerrard says he's not in control of whether Luiz stays at the club? What the hell does that mean?

Because he doesn't know if he'll still be manager in 30 minutes, I imagine.

He said that only Luiz and his agent know if he'll leave tomorrow. I'm just...I don't have words for what a basketcase we've become in the last four weeks.

God almighty that sounds very Scott Parker. We must not sell him.

It very much sounds like if Luiz doesn't sign with us tomorrow, he'll be playing for another club at the weekend, because the club wants a profit instead of losing him on a free.

If he was going I don't think he'd have played today. My guess he wants to see who takes over from Gerrard before making a final decision. As long as Gerrard is here after next week I think he will look to force a move in January

Abdicating himself of any responsibility in the process, that's Stevie G for you.
