And now Liverpool offering 20m apparently…

This is what happens in the last few days of the transfer window, they try and throw as many stories out as possible to make it exciting. It may be true though so who knows.

He’s now our best midfielder and we’re in a position for the first time since he’s arrived where we don’t need to waste him playing as a six and we have him on the bench and rumoured to be leaving. I don’t get it at all.

Yep.

Head and shoulders above McGinn and Ramsey against West Ham.  I'd die for a midfield trio of Kamara, Luiz and Sanson.... never going to happen under this clown though.

Without the surety of an incoming player of better quality than what we've got, selling Douggie would be foolish.

We may not have a choice if he asks for a move as per Greasy , opportunity of CL football I am sure he will jump at it
The pisser is that we have known his position is tenuous for a long time and we have not recruited that elusive midfielder we all dream about
Any purchases now if he leaves will look like ala Ings panic buys and not a part of a coherent plan

If he goes then Sanson shouldn’t be going anywhere and brought back into match day squad….but that won’t happen.

Ings wasn’t a panic buy unless you think going into the start of a new season with one recognized striker is the right thing to do.

No but the choice of Ings as the other recognised striker was hardly a well thought out plan.

Who else was available that was better?

Absolute nailed on, guaranteed panic buy. Out of nowhere on the day we sold Grealish, to soothe the fans' feelings. Ridiculous signing that was a part of what did for Dean Smith and looks like seeing off Gerrard too.

I would imagine in a functional midfield ie Liverpool he would look exceptional and a very good option to rotate with Thiago who seems to get more than his fair share of knocks.

Played as a #6 or that nonsense he is doing at the moment at defensive wide right he is wasted….he needs to be in the middle fully involved, popping the ball about, getting into shooting positions like he was during the covid survival run.  Let’s not forget how well he did then….

He needs a change of manager or a change of club or he will be a 6/10 merchant for rest of season and leave on a free

Eh? He scored three goals all season, all of which were pre-Covid. He looked better after the Covid break, but as a team we still only won 2 out of 10. His whole career with us has been average at best.

This is difficult, do we accept 20mil for a player who is running down his contract talented as he is, and try to find a replacement or hope he he stays motivated till the end of the season.

Luiz is a good player but there is better out there.  However, I'd rather have him then not have him, especially with no replacement and Sanson being told to leave as well.
