I think that he can be a really great player, but he has to move on to achieve that, probably abroad!
At the moment he will not get picked over McGinn, club captain, Kamara, recent high profile signing, so that leaves Ramsey which is possible but unlikely, so he is going to sit on our bench and potentially stop the development of our youth players.

The system that SG plays does not suit him and we don't get the best out of him but what do I know I only watch them every week playing the same crap!

Luiz is another really ordinary player. I’d rather we sold him.

Agree 100%

Will be very happy if he signs a new deal. He's only going to get better. I'd start him on Sunday.

Just stick Kamara and Luiz in front of a defence with Chambers in and let's win some games ffs.

If someone offered £20m+ for him I'd bite there hands off.

Well Atletico Madrid are lining up a £20m bid according to the Telegraph...

He's a good player. We shouldn't be letting him go.

We will though, of course, and instead hang on to technically wank shite like McGinn.

Luiz and Kamara are our 2 best midfielders at the moment…they should be both playing and creating a partnership in the middle of the pitch. We should not be entertaining paltry offers of £20m for a young Brazilian international with plenty of potential. If he does get sold without being replaced by a better player then we’ll be much weaker for it, and the downward spiral towards a relegation battle will continue.

I’ll preface this by saying I wouldn’t blame him.

Does anyone think he stalled out signing an extension for this exact moment. See how the first 5 matches go and then make a decision? After getting subbed off at 60 minutes for whatever reason he showed his displeasure and was vocal on the bench. Proper Sanson salty.

Where are we going? We will has a new manager within 6 months surely and he’s got CL clubs tapping him up..

That's what happens when you let players go into last 12 months, teams will just lowball with bids.

Hopefully he starts tomorrow at least and puts in a decent farewell performance.

No idea what on earth the thinking is with midfield. Probably have lost Carney, Sanson and Luiz from last season's squad in next 48 hours. Tim and Nakamba can only play as DM so we effectively have two players on the bench just covering one position which is a total waste with Sanson in exile.

Just more decisions Gerrard is getting wrong.

I think he’s a good player who will get better - and you know if the clubs who are interested are Liverpool and Athletico then perhaps it suggests he’s alright and more than good enough for us.

*IF* these Liverpool and Atletico rumours are true, then they see something in Doug that hasn't been brought out at Villa. They are both high intensity teams which we clearly are not so he's not really had to run himself ragged with us. If he is capable of that why the bloody hell aren't we using it?

He’s now our best midfielder and we’re in a position for the first time since he’s arrived where we don’t need to waste him playing as a six and we have him on the bench and rumoured to be leaving. I don’t get it at all.
