His passing yesterday was atrocious. Gave the ball away time and time again in dangerous spots. We looked a good bit more solid when he went off.

Yep. As you said, a candidate to be dropped because we'll get mullered if he does that against Liverpool

Has he suffered from us using him as a jack of all trades? Currently, all of Nakamba, Ramsey, McGinn and even Sanson in his cameos are making a much better fist of the various positions and roles he's occupied for us.

He just doesn't seem able to take that final step towards becoming a consistent top-level player. It would be ironic after all the criticism he's had if Marvelous eventually becomes the player Luiz looked liked he would.

He seems to lose focus in games and I see him watching it go on around him .  But when he is at it ,he is some player

Gerrard mentioned there's a couple of players struggling to get a grip of the job the coaching staff are asking of them. Presumably Luiz is one of those.

I’d say almost certainly. He’s got the talent to adjust though.

Poorest game of the season yesterday. However most of our best performances pre Gerrard this season have come with him playing so think that's important to consider.

I think Nakamba-Luiz-McGinn is nicely balanced for where we are currently and no idea why we didn't see more of it in last two seasons. However Ramsey is playing very well currently and you'll have Carney and Sanson pushing for starts over xmas period.

Suddenly midfield dosen't seem quite such a poverty position after all.

He was very good last Wednesday.  Not so yesterday and that's his biggest fault, consistency.  Whether Gerrard will persevere remains to be seen.

He was the weakest yesterday, surprising, but still think he'll come good. Maybe a spell on the bench would do him good. He's played a lot of football in the last couple of years.

He hasn't really.  34 games last season, 13 this. Compare that to somebody like Bruno Fernandes. 73 games last season, 27 this.

Does that include his Copa America/Olympics/World Cup qualifier involvement? Even if he isn't a regular starter for Brazil, with all the travel and training, the bloke hasn't had much respite since "Project Restart".

It was a pity he couldn't back-up Weds night's display yesterday though. And he is the one clumsy fcuker who you don't want making a rash challenge at the edge of the box (i.e when Lesta played that corner to the 18 yard line), he has form for giving them away there or being Pogba'd (cheated) by it.

It does. Point is he really hasn't played that much really, no more than anybody else in our team, and a lot less than some.

It's more that he hasn't had an off-season for 2 years, without being an elite level athlete I think it's hard to know how big an impact that has.
