Been brilliant in every game since the restart. Take him out of these games and we’re down, simple as that. Love the guy.

Really want us to keep him.

Be bloody hard to replace a central midfield of Douglas, McGinn and Grealish.

Villa need to talk to Man City and buy out that clause if possible.

Don't see him going anywhere now. Think we'll be one of the joys of next season. Last 5-6 games is a hint of what's to come on a regular basis.

Better than Jack, obviously in a different position. I'd rather keep him.

I said many months ago that Douglas Luiz has the busy but elegant running style of Dennis Mortimer, and over the last few weeks he has delivered performances and inspiration of a like kind.

Doug was just a glorified loan wasn't he?
I thought the deal was that we bought him outright and Citeh have first right of refusal when we come to sell; and that it is our call when we decide to sell.
Obviously, relegation will put pressure on us to sell.

It's described as a "buy-out clause" which would suggest that if Citeh meet the trigger price we wouldn't be able to refuse.

I believe you're both right. If we decide to sell, City get first refusal at whatever we're selling him for. If we don't decide to sell, there is a price we HAVE to accept (but only from City).

...
Oh, okay - thanks; cleared that up (for me, at least).

Other than generally playing brilliantly, these games have shown that he is definitely a very, very good CDM. Jury was out on whether that was his best role and whether he has the engine and discipline for it. It’s clear now those issues have been worked on and were a product of his age and fitness level when he joined.

For me, he’s the player to build around, not SJG. Luis could be the engine room of a resurgent Villa in the same way Mortimer was 40 years ago.

Does it need to be one or the other?

Personally I'd leave Jack where he is, listed as a left winger but with a lot of licence, I'd add another winger with pace and goals on the other side and a nasty bastard to help look after Douglas and McGinn in the middle.

He's absolute shit. Man City would be crazy to buy him back.
