I thought he was lost somewhere between our defense and their defense.

Are you still railing against the creeping Americanisation of British English?

Douglas is really struggling at the moment. Personally I think he’s a cracking player, who will come good again, and I hope he’s with us for the long-term. But I think he might benefit from the end of the season and a good break.

Take him out though and you're left with Nakamba to do the defensive duties and he really is abysmal.

Pep Guardiola:

"A guy who's clever with the ball, so physically strong. He's a lovely, lovely guy. Unfortunately when he came a work permit meant he could not play but I'm happy he's developed really, really well."

Maybe he knows he’s going back and that’s why his performances have been so poor.

For a potentially top class player, his lack of tackling and giving away cheap fouls has been very disappointing.

If he goes to City then he won't even make the bench most weeks

Maybe not now, but what players are in the now does not define what they become. Firstly Doug has already shown he’s a quality when in form. Secondly he’s young and I think he’ll develop even further. I really hope he stays.

Agree he has shown what he can do, he was immense after the restart.

Fun reading the Idrissa Gueye thread - he was also shit.

I am dreading what our players are thinking when they (and they do) read social media on the official site - a picture of Luiz and the only comments are more or less telling him to get out of our club.

Yes Gana has gone on to be a fine player.

I think it’s very important we keep Douglas and I really hope we do. He’ll go on to be an excellent player. As for comments sections they’re generally inhabited by idiots and bigots and should be ignored.

When you're a member of a particularly shit team all the players tend to get tarred with the same brush, and our relegated team of five years ago was particularly shit.

The last team I wanted to forget ever existed was the relegated team of 1987, yet even that team contained players who went on to have good careers elsewhere.

I thought Douglas Luiz had a good game against the Albion actually.

And me, I thought he played quite well. I was surprised when he went off.

Me too, he played very well. He looked back to his commanding self. He was winning the ball and driving us forward.

Hard to know from the highlights. He still gave away a silly free kick on the edge of the box in between the two penalties and got pwn'd by West Brom's star-man at the corner flag. I did like his instant acknowledgement of it by stomping his feet on the ground like a toddler, though!
