He’s always been best suited to the last-gasp-block style of defending and does/did it very well. However, he looks desperately uncomfortable where the emphasis is on playing the ball out from the back, it’s just not his game.
I agree with this, still he does it much more effective than Cash and even more effective than Mings IMO.

I’m sorry but Konsa is no where near as good as Mings with the ball and Mings is by no means good either. Diego Carlos can’t come back soon enough to replace Konsa in my view.

He’s good at what we know he can do but is nowhere near good enough for what Emery wants. Cant see him being with us beyond this season.

He seems to have hit a bit of a ceiling in the last couple of seasons and it doesn't look to me as if we're going to see any more improvement from him.

Decent without kicking on the way I thought he might, which is a shame.

While it's very easy to produce reams of statistics these days that don't really mean anything, I guess it's not a bad thing if your players are doing well on the lists of meaningless stats:

Quote
Outfield players who have been dribbled past the fewest times in the Premier League this season (2000+ mins):

1️⃣ Ezri Konsa - 2
2️⃣ Erling Haaland, 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗮 - 3
3️⃣ Fabian Schar - 5
4️⃣ 𝗚𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗵𝗮𝗲𝘀, Sven Botman - 6
5️⃣ Harry Kane - 7

That's a pretty good stat as a Centre Back. When you look at the list and see a bunch of strikers in it.

Yeah. I guess what it doesn't give us context.

i.e if nobody ever tries to dribble past you because you're always massively out of position, you might score well on a list like that.

Not that I think that's applicable to Konsa or owt.

He had a similar stat in the lockdown season when he hadn't been dribbled past for a massive run of games. There has to be something there, but it's a funny little stat without context you're right.

I really thought he'd go on to play for England back then but he hasn't kicked on and will likely lose his place next season.

I can think of a number of times where he's been beaten quite easily, the last match against Bournemouth being once such. It probably wasn't classed as a "dribble" but the attacker ran past him like he wasn't there and he had to be bailed out by Mings.

He’s a player who has gone backwards. Sad really, a couple of years ago I thought he was pretty good. Now, he’s an out and out liability.

Isn't this forwards being dribbled past a bit like Centre Backs are always top hits on number of passes made stat?

I think he's looked much better in the last few games, but his lack of confidence on the ball still means Mings has to take too much responsibility.

It was a very good pass onto the run so yes, wouldn't be classed as a dribble. However it wasn't just the the attacker that went past Konsa like he wasn't there, but also Mings as well to make the bail out.

Running in behind a player is very different to taking them on and beating them with pace/skill. Konsa's biggest strength by far is in him winning those individual battles and this stat proves it, it doesn't help him when his positioning and awareness let him down though.
