Bad news, out for 16 weeks apparently. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2022/may/18/konsa-ruled-out-for-up-to-16-weeks/
FFS.  Thats probably £25-£30m of our transfer budget up in smoke.

I don’t see why it’s up in smoke. I imagine given the mistakes we’ve made in that position we’d have bought another CB anyway. Konsa/Mings/Chambers/Hause is mid table at best. We need to upgrade one or two of those players to compete for a top 8 spot let alone anything higher.
I mean we won't be able to sell him, if indeed that was the plan.

If we did want to sell him, he'll be getting back to fitness hopefully in the August transfer window.

Nailed on we'll get a top new CB in the summer, I think Mings will probably lose the captaincy too.

Surprisingly he was out there in the warm ups today and will potentially feature against Brisbane Roar on Wednesday.

Must be the first time in recorded history a Villa player has come back 2 months AHEAD of schedule from an injury.

Great news. Although he had a drop in form, will continue to improve and hopefully play for us for a long time.

Konsa has gone down in my estimations a little. I know that sounds bad, but the bar was very, very high. Thought he should be starting for England, but not so much at the moment. Hope he can recover his form.

Both our CB’s were exposed by have a non existent midfield being overrun and none of them being a true DM. It wasn’t a surprise we looked immediately better when Marv was playing (pre injury). Konsa took a step back but he’s a young player that we’ve seen play to a very high level. I think all our defenders will look better if our defending started higher up the pitch and it is a more cohesive unit with and without the ball.

Agree with this, the amount of pressure the backline came under by not having a decent defensive midfielder it's no wonder the backline struggled.

Agreed but it’s also that Gerrard’s style requires the fullbacks to constantly get forward meaning the centre backs can get pulled out of position by quick counter attacks. So for me it’s partly down to personnel in midfield but also being a bit smarter about when to commit going forward. Both of these things can be improved by not giving away possession easily.

Incredible recovery time, available for selection against Brisbane Roar.

It's easy to forget just how accomplished Konsa looked in 20/21 season and I think most of us thought he should be pushing an England place.  I agree with the comments above that he'll be helped by having a decent DM in front of him.

We've now got fantastic competition at centre back, I rate all four of them.  Not sure how we'll keep them all happy, but that's for Gerrard to deal with.

Yes, it's a tidy set. Hause is pretty handy for a 5th choice too.

Was my favourite Defender, but seemed to take a step backwards last year.

Hopefully can find his form again. I love his attitude too, he's ultra competitive.

Apparently, worked non stop during the close season to get fit ahead of schedule
