Run out music = Immigrant song - Led Zepplin

and also the lion on the screen - I want a real one roaring like in the old MGM movie openings

That music takes me back to being a  kid and running home from school to listen to George Gavin on a crackly line from Simferopol on a Wednesday afternoon or a tense, balmy evening praying for a result in Brussells.  It's special to me.

Tony Butler ‘get out yer prayer mats’
Exactly the memory it brings for me.
On Monday, when it played, I instantly thought of Tony bloody Butler.

I've never known it to be played at the Villa when I've gone but I know from reading this forum it's intrinsically a Villa piece. When they played it at Wembley as we went up the steps I had dust in my eye. They managed to evoke the glorious ghosts of Aston Villa FC.

I love this.  Another Villa tune that I think is criminally overlooked is the "A.S.T.O.N..." Dave Ismay song from the 70s.

I said elsewhere on here yesterday that the song has resonance for me as I was in my teens in the 70s. It reminds me of watching John Gidman flicking the ball over his head with his heel in front of the Trinity. It always reminds me of afternoon kick offs rather than night games.

It sure ain't a rousing piece of music so I'm ok to hear it 15 minutes before kick off but I don't want the team coming out to it when we need to be roaring them on.

As mentioned above, I'd rather they stopped the piped music stuff after the game at Wembley and let us sing our own songs. By the way, a glaring omission from the Now That;s What I call Aston Villa hit list on Monday evening was The Bells Are Ringing.

And the players kicking AVFC footballs into the Holte End.  Or did I totally imagine that?!

Now all we need is the round badge back.

gets my Vote

I’d like it back as well, Although more recognisable to the world as Chelsea’s now.
Absolutely this. I’d be surprised if it’s not already on the new owners to do list.

Totally agree.....never trusted anyone who doesn't want the round badge back!

'We're going up' from our promotion season in 1975 is pretty apt. Check it out on YouTube. Resonates well with now.

Possibly in a minority of one here, but I can't stand it.  I don't really remember it being played at the ground, so don't have that emotional connection to it, and as a piece of music it's just shit.  Sorry.
You are not. I understand why it is part of Villa lore but it does nothing for me.

Yeah, me neither.

Another vote for its shiiite. Woeful piece of music.

Does absolutely nothing for me either. It makes Hi Ho Silver Lining sound like Vivaldi.
