The play-offs do mean something - obviously we're back where we should be, and it's great to see a Villa captain (or two) lift a pot at Wembley. It's no Peace Cup, admittedly, but then what could be?

Joking aside, I view it like Clough talked about the Watney's Cup or whatever it was. That first trophy which convinced Forest they could really achieve. Smith will look at that game as the step which enables a greater climb, and when we're looking at the roll of honour in a decade's time, hopefully we'll see he was absolutely right to do so.

It was the Anglo-Scottish Cup, and I agree with you.

The only work I've done since Monday is a meeting this afternoon. I had to apologise in advance for my voice, which is still fucked.

Monday was massive for us.

I've just checked and I notice that I have been a member of H&V for almost thirteen years.  In all that time; I can honestly say, that I cannot remember a time when the whole forum as a collective were so happy and in tune with each other.

There were hints of what we could achieve in the initial stages of the Lerner/MON era but, the hope the current regime are sending out in their clear-headed, grip-on-reality messages knocks all what has gone before into a cocked hat.  Keep smiling people as in the words of D:ream'Things Can Only Get Better'.

Does anyone know if I'll be able to pick up a Wembley programme at Villa Park next season? Neglected to get one in a mad rush on Monday. They're available online but I don't really want to pay over the odds.

SE you are spot on with that last comment
Monday  was massive
Standing outside Wembley on Monday took me back to Rotterdam  - the intense pride of supporting our unique club was back
Unfortunately we failed to push on back in 1982 - this time I get a sense that the new administration mean serious business - it's spine tingling .....please God, no more Ellis,Lerner or Xia
I remember the bad days in the late sixties and witnessed the rebirth from Third Division Champions to European Champions inside 11 years
The Villa are back

I'm still pinching myself that I not only saw us score a goal for the first time in four trips to Wembley but I actually saw us win a game there!  Gives me confidence that I'm not the jona for our next trip to win a proper trophy!

I think it's the first time we have done something special in the social media age which means for the first time we get to see behind the scenes and see the players celebrating.

If that does not excite you nothing will.
We have had promises and false dawns before but the way these two custodians of our club speak just oozes confidence in that they know what they are doing and as well as compliment each other are both on the same page.

Strap in folks this going to a great journey

“We’re going to try and finish first. Twelve doesn’t wash with me”

I f**king love dean

Was just on the verge of posting the very same.

What a man.

A bit of a difference from "we want to be in the top 20 of the Deloitte money league".

Ugh. Was that Wyness, Risso?

No, Lerner era.  Think it was Tom Fox.

Tell that to my Dad, he's pissed off I'm still in London not back in Roscommon despite the Rossies and Villa winning. First proper break in 18 months. Still find myself humming "We've got John McGinn" as I'm on the tube though!  :)

What an amazing season we've just witnessed. Lows, very lows, highs, lows, highs, very highs and then a "Never-to-be-fForgotten" Bank Holiday Monday, wow! UTV

Might have been Faulkner.

It was (along with Randy) last paragraph:
https://astonvilla.vitalfootball.co.uk/season-ticket-holders-thanks-from-randy-lerner/

Can't do a quoteathon on my phone (praise Mings) so thanks for confirming to all concerned.

How far we have travelled since those dark and dirty days... That I thought it might have been Fat Keith shows how ingrained that culture had really become at the club and until all too recently to boot.

I'm now just starting to believe that promotion hasn't just been a cruel windup, that the ref isn't going to call us back to disallow AEG or SJM's goals two days after the event, and that our Owners, CEO, DOF,  Head Coach, Captain and indeed the entire crew of the good ship Villa are steering a safe passage to a hallowed haven of palm trees, rum and coconuts, and half nekkid dusky maidens.

To quote Douglas Adams on this site for the second time this week, I think I feel good about it.
