The more he plays for us, the less the legend title is holding. Remember he was Captain today and he should have been rollicking the others directly on the pitch for their attitude. Instead he was doing nothing at all like the rest of them.

Yup - considering the things he supposedly brings over Pau are leadership and aerial ability, there was very little of either on display today.

Worst performance I’ve seen from Mings, when we needed a captain’s performance. He’ll be on his merry way this summer for certain.

Ill always have a soft spot for him, but JFC. Its not just the inadequacy of the performance. There was one point in the first half when Bogarde lost the ball and Mings went all huffy when the ball was still in play, his body language was dreadful and he was skipper

As late as a year ago he played a big part in our end of season good form but I think his injuries at the start of this season combined with his age have caught up with him. I think he might know it too, hence the lack of apparently leadership. It's hard to insist on good standards from others if you're incapable of reaching the heights yourself. He's one of my favourite ever Villa players but this season looks like the end.

He should have scored from that corner in the SH if he had headed it properly.

Hard to believe we might have got a draw after such a performance!

I'll always remember that towering headed equaliser against Salzburg even if you won't.

That was a good head - slightly qualified as he’d gifted them their first goal.

I think that Pau vs. Mings debate has, sadly, been put to bed.

Yeah but no but but numbers and stuff.

Yeah. Results are irrelevant.

Similar to what I said about Doug. If he’s approaching the end of his Villa career, hopefully he’ll get a winners medal, but lovely and deserved he was on the pitch for a few mins.

Mings has been an excellent servant for us and was a hugely important player for where we were but he's at an age now where we need to move on from him soon and wish him well. Like PWA I'd love it if he can sign off with a medal because he absolutely deserves it.

He's been a massively important player for us, seems to be an amazing human being and a credit to the club, but times moves on. We've improved a lot since he signed, age and injuries means his time here is coming to an end. Leaving with a medal would be the perfect send off.

Nobody will be able (willing) to get near his wages. I know he took a reduced wage for a longer deal but, well, that's what I mean.

Yeah and he only signed it a few months ago, didn't he? I'd say there's a fair chance he'll still be here next season.

Yeah, contract lasts to 2027. Realistically that may well be the end of his career.

However, I can’t see him going before then. His value as part of the squad is IMO more than the sum of his parts, and at the end of the day he’s 4th choice central defender - we can afford to keep him and take a punt on a youngster (incl those already in the squad) to slowly blood in over the next 12 months.

Hope he picks up a winners medal this season, not only because it means we’ve won the Europa League, but it’d also be a fitting tribute to his contribution in getting us there.

I love the bloke, I really hope we can win something to cement the likes of him, McGinn, Watkins as legends of recent times.
