Mings has been a great signing for us but the worst case scenario is that he becomes a scapegoat as I know there are some in our fanbase (I have one such prat who sits in front of me) who relish him making any mistake to slag him off and prove they are great footballing minds.
I just can't see him becoming a scapegoat, I certainly hope not either, but he's just too well liked by the Villa fans......there's always a few who are different.
He's been one of our best signings in the last 15-20 years. He's on par with Mellberg for me.
He will be missed but as others have said, time is sadly catching up with him.
He's been an integral part of our Championship to Champions league journey and as such he has my total respect and deserves it from the Villa faithful in my opinion. I really can't see them turning on him and he's still really popular speaking from personal experience with my own circle of mates but there's always someone who likes to be different at the match. Right now he's still needed and we know he'll give his all. But time waits for no man as they say and I've no doubt Unai and Monchi will be looking to upgrade our options in that area. Whatever transpires I'll always remember his heroics in some of our Championship battles and who can forget the video of him turning up in full kit at Witton Station?

Tyrone Mings, along with John McGinn, is emblematic of the club's renaissance since 2019.

Yes he is, and he is more than just a player, he is a leader around the club.

However, he's also 31, just recovered from a truly horrific injury, and having problems in the same knee.

I also don't think, much as I like him, he is at the level of a club who want to play in the CL more often than not, not anymore.
The knee he injured in 2022 was his right. He went off Saturday holding his left knee.
Think you mean 2023?
Yes August 2023 I’ve struggled with dates ever since Covid ☹️

I think UE has shown he has little sentimentality when it comes to moving players on, Tyrone will be on a salary that reflects his status as captain, England player and first choice for us. None of which are accurate now. Whilst I have nothing but admiration for him, if we can bring in a younger player, on a lower salary, capable of filling in for the first choices when needed, I suppose we will do.

The only reason they aren't accurate is because he's been injured.

There's a couple more years in the tank yet . Best overall CB at the club still and a modern day legend .

He signed his contract extension well after he had lost the captaincy.

I think we’ll spend big on a physical centre back to play next to Torres.

I would say he is one of my favourite villa players - it will be a sad day when he moves on / hangs up his boots.  Similarly John McGinn.

They both have done us proud from Championship to Champions League - and that testment to them, and all of the people that have helped them along the way.

Feel like I've seen the best save ever and best clearance ever from Villa this season. Rational minds says that can't possibly be true, but I'm fucking calling it.

This one ranks right up there with this one from another former captain.

He was excellent tonight.
To think some have suggested he is past it.
