For me, Tyrone goes down as one of the most important players I've ever seen in a Villa shirt since the 1982 team.

Not the best or most successful, but an absolutely fundamental part in our return from our lowest ebb (in modern times) to European football.  I think his over-publicised occasional errors always overshadowed just what he gave to this team in leadership, sheer will to win and defensive dominance on the pitch.

For me, at his best he is an absolutely brilliant inspirational player.  The way he conducts himself on and off the pitch is a bonus.  I don't know what happens next as I'm generally glass half empty when it comes down to injuries of this nature.  But even if we don't see a huge amount more from him, there's no doubt in my mind at least that he will walk away with legend status and probably as one of my all time favourite players.

Summed up perfectly.

Yes, saved me typing similar out.

I remember our last season in the Championship when everyone outside Villa was raving about Jack Grealish and I told anyone who wanted to listen that our most valuable player at that time was actually Tyrone Mings. He was to us what Virgil van Dyke was to Liverpool.

I'm not what you'd call a star struck kind of a person as evinced by my lack of not knowing anyone who I can boast about knowing to post about on the 'who's the most famous person you know' thread.  I would be honoured to meet Tyrone Mings.

Well said Chris. The minute he walked through the door in January 2019, he’s made a huge difference. I can’t remember being this gutted about a player being out long term.

Me either. I woke up at 4am Sunday, an hour before my alarm, and just lay there, depressed, til it was time for work.

Has his injury been officially diagnosed yet? I know we were all assuming ACL, but is it?

Does anyone else think that those t-shirts in Sunday were a bit OTT ?

It's a regular football injury, not a Petrov situation.

He’s been such a giant of a character for us on and off the pitch along with the way Gerrard treated him I think they just wanted to show him their support. He’s also one of football mr nice guys. His back story is quite something, being homeless and making professional quite late in comparison to most pro footballers.

They did it for Buendia, too.
It just shows the squad are all together.
I think it’s great

I also think the timing of the injuries makes them "feel" more significant.  Right at the start of the season, pre-season done and gone well, then you get an injury that means you're unlikely to play again until the next season - it's a big blow.  Not that this type of injury isn't a blow at any other time of the year, it just feels worse right as you're beginning a long season.

Arsenal just took a team pic in the changing rooms after the match with Timber's shirt.
