Can’t read the game at all. It’s all last action hero gung ho save the day shit. Stuff Pail McGrath never ever had to do.
I can see England finishing the group with 4 points - Iran [W], USA [D] and Wales [L].We'll be sent home early, Southgate will get his marching orders, Potter's dismal run at Chelsea will continue and he'll get potted, and then he'll be the next England manager. I'd be amazed if Gerrard got it considering the mess he made of us! You could argue that Mings, Watkins and Dougie could all be packing their bags for Qatar if we'd not had that clown in charge for so long. ☹️

Two 1-0 wins in first two games and a dead rubber in last. The squad seems very light on centre backs as there's no way Walker is match fit and Southgate will play with a back 5.
Not a single defender covered themselves in glory tonight. They were proper ropey. Unai will sort it.

I feel a big part of why the defence struggled in the second half was that they lost faith in the keeper which lead to nervousness and a number of avoidable errors.

Mind you, the feeling from Olsen was probably similar, Chambers was atrocious.
Bringing a central defender on is always a strange substitution, Mings is at his best when he's got the ability to read the game and set the tone from the start. Coming on a sub he was just chucking himself about like a mad thing, which wasn't what was required at all.
