Horse has bolted. Mings will only ever improve once Gerrard leaves.

Mings is only 5 months off his 30th birthday. What you see is what you get with him, and he's unlikely to get much better.

Tony Adams was 30 and Steve Bould 33 when Wenger rocked up at Arsenal. Both were figures of fun before and thought to be past it. Both were held in high regard as players by the time they quit.

Tony Adams who had captained England to the Euro 96 semi finals a few months before Wenger arrived? That Tony Adams?
As Simon P points out Adams used to get pelters and the donkey tag really stuck. Adams himself says that he became a better player under Wenger.

Tyrone isn’t a top 6 PL CH. But neither is he the reason we are where we are at in the table.

My old man used to say that Blues had some really good goalkeepers, but they had to be as they were the busiest player on the pitch. In other words, if he was in a top 6 side he probably wouldn't be facing so much last-ditch defending.

His limitations with the ball would be exposed more then too. He's absolutely fine for where we are now. 3-4 head scratching ricks a season, that's his first out of the way.

A goal and an assist in his last two games.  Surely Southgate can't ignore him now?

Second in two games, that own goal was appalling. Again his right foot is only for standing on..did stop a certain goal but didn't seem to fancy fronting up to Mitrovic all night.

Which is untrue because he got in the way of a Mitrovic chance near the end which made him put it wide.

Played  his part massively in getting rid of Steven.

A fantastic goal line clearance in the 1st half. Without that and Emi's saves our previous manager may well have been fired at half time
I don't think he could have done much about the og although I've only seen it once. Hard struck cross, facing your own goal, in those types of situations the ball can go anywhere as anyone who has played football to any level will know.
I'm looking for the confidence levels of a number of players including Tyrone to improve, now action has been taken and when a new proper manager is in role. UTV!

When you pick a battle with the leader of the dressing room it means someone has to lose. Mings has his faults, but Gerrard's man-management has been disastrous.

Had Sanchez not been injured I have no doubt that Mings would've been gone by now. He was Smith's man, popular with all and sundry and evidently more popular than Gerrard. The manager had to quickly change tack once Carlos was ruled out, but I think he didn't "fancy him" in football parlance. Nothing wrong with that, you stand and fall by those decisions but the way he went about it made me think that he didn't want that responsibility so decided to try and force the player into making the decision to leave.

Gerrard did bring Mings back after the Bournemouth debacle and partner him with Carlos though v Everton. But I always thought after we won that game, with Mings playing very well, that Gerrard would have difficulties down the line. When you publicly take on a senior player like that as an inexperienced coach, you have to win that battle. Within a couple of weeks Gerrard was as reliant on Mings as ever.

Mings to be fair played well in nearly every game since aside from the last two where he was dreadful.
