After training and doing some tactical work behind the scenes with coaches Gerrard should be spending his evenings this week ironing Ming's shirt in preparation for Saturday. He should present it to him in a glass frame Saturday morning and promise to not do it again (until we buy someone better).

Mings still won't shag you.

I can live with that, but what I won't put up with is Mings not in the first 11. Gerrimin.

That's for him to decide. For my own part, all I can offer him is the knowledge that I'm a tenacious, discreet, open-minded and game lover who poaches a beautiful egg.

Over to you, Tyrone.

If we starts winning without Mings and we start winning after Mings moves on, we might be able to say well then Gerrard was right in the bigger picture.
Perhaps Gerrard felt there was a complacency around Mings and that adding competitiveness to his position would be a catalyst to improve him. I think some old school would term it 'kick up the backside'. I also thinking it's fair to lessen a burden of responsibility on Mings if the coaching staff all feel it's the impact to his performances.

Gerrard surely feels hes acting in the best interests of the team with what he's doing.
Diego Carlos has been scouted and is regarded as an upgrade in a position that SG felt needed to be changed to accommodate the new style of play. Its not the only position.

Bringing in a competitor for Mings can be viewed in the greater scheme of things as the big club and squad theory as necessary to challenge players , in order to provide that motivator for players to step up , not be complacent and improve consistency. It will work for some won't for others

So with such reasoning i'm warming to Gerrard's approach and his plans. Trying to fanthom the logic. I think I'll just be patient in him getting a winning mentality around the players and how it can be achieved with his system and style of play. Gerrard is here to win football matches, and that's all he really wants from all of his players.

SG wants his team to take control of more games, with players understanding their roles and following instructions, but it's been a bit disjointed at times. Implementing the
style and mentality is much easier said than done. And while a season of complete consistency may be beyond us again, better consistency in performance is not, or should not be, as Villa grows.I believe that we will improve.

And once we get some momentum, we'll be flying. There is already enough quality to do so, and more will be added over time. Now it's up to Mings to decide what he is going to do. I suspect he'll move on because SG has made clear indications that he's not interested as him as a straightforward first choice and leader of this team but given him a task to challenge for his place.
That's football though.

Up The Villa!

I think Gerrard must have bunged Footy a tenner.

Gerrard did mention an injury and he should be training later in the week I think?

Well my narrative has changed as considered a few things from a managers point of view. And SG personality.
I'm all for Gerrard making his tough decisions it shows proper character. So if he thinks we can achieve that with or without Mings or Watkins I have to support that choice.

Now I will wait till the weekend for further comment
Enjoy the English sunshine!

Not sure tbh. I have been a steadfast FV supporter, but this feels a bit like Bob Dylan going electric. I suppose I'll be fine but it's going to take some adjustment.

If fit then i would play him by moving Carlos (although he hardly set the world alight - especially if you look at the analysis by Holy Trinity of his first header) into Konsa's position. If not fit then bring in Chambers for Konsa

Pretty sure Carlos is a left sided defender and has played there consistently. He’s been signed to replace Ming’s IMO.

Rumours that West Ham are considering a bid for Mings....

We paid £20m for him and he'd barely played top flight football. He's had 3 seasons of experience and gained international recognition. I'd be asking for £50m.
