Probably not a good omen to drop Mings. DS did this before and was sacked not long after! I've generally supported Gerrard, but I'm getting less confident he can take the club forward. I don't like this narrow formation/tactics set-up at all. Another thing, why do we travel away in all the pre-season friendlies? Surely Kamara, Carlos etc., would benefit playing at VP before being pitched straight into a Premier League match. The Everton game is huge now.....

Had this on Friday from a Liverpool fan who knows fuck all about us "Mings is terrible isn't he?" followed up after I defended him with "McGinn is a good, solid player". Seems a bit like perceptions in the absence of ever watching us are shaped by off field reputations.

I’d rather have Mings making the odd mistake whilst attacking every ball and organising the defence than the way Konsa has played pretty much since crowds came back.

Whilst Carlos is settling in I’d much rather see him alongside Mings

Completely agree.

Me too.

I wasn't suprised Mings was dropped. I was that Konsa played though. He wasn't to blame but it was an odd decison bearing mind how long he's been out.

Kind of agree though I do think Konsa was poor. The problem with dropping someone like Mings is his replacement needs to turn in a very strong performance and Carlos did not yesterday. Hopefully he'll find his feet soon enough.

Konsa though? Poor all of last season, underwhelming pre-season, so I can't understand why he is given the opportunity. If no Mings, I expected Chambers to play along Carlos.

I think we can all agree Mings is a great example of a decent human being and professional.
But I have been impressed with Gerrard’s professionalism and maturity as our manager. He carries himself well, and knows how to act in club duties. To say that he is resentful of a senior player at the club, after the career that Gerrard has had is just nonsense.
I agree with that, but unfortunately that is only one aspect of managing a football club. There is also the small matter of being able to organise a group of players into a coherent and efficient footballing unit. The jury is still out as far as this is concerned.

Have you seen 12 Angry Men? This is the reverse. Henry Fonda is slowly convincing the jury that the accused is guilty.

Being dropped doesn't surprise me but being dropped for Konsa who was shitter than him last season does. Maybe it was just a balance thing as both Mings and Carlos both play as LCB but it should have been Chambers over Konsa.

That's another point I agree with, I'd have Chambers in front of Konsa.

I wouldn't. He's nowhere near top half Premier League quality.
And neither is Konsa

Are you sure that wasn't a text off Gerrard?

The ‘he’s always got a rick in him’ comment really boils my piss.

It a lazy, contrived comment because there is actually very little to criticise the player about and specific examples are hard to find. But throw in a meaninglessness few words of bullshit and hey presto you’re  a football commentator.

I’ve posted on here many times my reasons for defending Mings and why I think he’s a massive asset and credit to the club.

I hope the manager realises soon that he has ‘made a rick’

As things stand, Ming's is the best defender at the club. Our results with & without him are clear.

We don't know what's going on behind the scenes but I wouldn't be surprised to see him move elsewhere over the next 3 weeks.

Losing Mings would be a big loss and really not necessary.

It's really not that hard to find a rick from Mings. I'm not saying that Konsa is the answer, but let's not pretend that a whole load of goals didn't come from a Mings fuck up last season.
