Dropping him today was ridiculous.

I wouldn't. He's nowhere near top half Premier League quality.

Have you got the stats to prove that?

Mings absolutely should have started today.  Losing the captaincy,  against his old club with a world cup in few months time?  He'd have been fired up to prove a few people wrong.

But no, Gerrard decides he knows best and issues another very public humiliation of him

A mature coach today would have brought Mings on for Konsa after about 55 mins..watching Kieffer fuckin Moore bully Konsa was embarrassing. Carlos was rubbish too and didn't seem comfortable on his left side. A fired up Mings coming on to rile up some of our players, including his replacement as captain,  would have been ideal.

We could have prime Paulo Maldini and Franco Baresi in defence and we’d still be kicking around in mid-table.

Yes, finished 17th, 11th and 14th.

By that logic there hasn't been a single Villa player since 2010/11 that's been top half quality.

Didn’t realise that Tyrone was playing on his own in defence. Bravo.

If it's the manager v Mings, I'm 'Team Ty' every day of the week, I'd wager he's done more for the club than Gerrard ever will. Terrible decision to strip him of the captaincy and criminal to double down on that by also dropping him in favour of Konsa who was worse last season and is returning from injury. Now it's a triple whammy with this 'look me in the eye' bollocks. Gerrard is acting like he is prime Alex Ferguson when in reality he is a rookie manager less achievements than Alex McLeish.

Drop him if he doesn't think he is up for it. Fine.

Lose 2.0 to an abject team then expect some flack.

I completely agree. Totally disrespectful to a player who has always given his all.

Every time we drop Mings, or he's out, we look shite.

He's not the fucking problem.

The manager seems to be trying his best to make him a problem. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gone by the end of the month. Mings, that is, not the manager.
