Yeah, two totally unrelated things. I suspect that linking them may be more to do with people’s own personal politics than anything rational. I think he’s a legend for the way he conducts himself off the pitch, but I still have question marks over him as a player if we want to challenge for top 6 / top 4.

In terms of Mings the player, I think it’s pretty obvious to most of us what the deal is: a great presence, good pace, good in the air, pretty good distribution, but prone to lapses in concentration which can be costly. It would be great if we had all the positives without the mistakes, but then he’d be a £60m+ defender not a £25m one.

Champions league teams tend to buy £60m+ defenders.

We're not a cl team, we won't be challenging for top 4 or 6 this season (our transfer business put paid to that) and he's not a £25m player any longer. Villa fans would be going mad if someone came in and offered that.
I think the bold bit is a good summation. Mistakes happen though (who doesn't make mistakes?) I'd prefer to think of the number of points he's saved us and contributed to us winning (15 clean sheets was it last season?)
He is just what Aston Villa needs on and off the pitch. It seems some people having a pop at him are the types who like to dish it out but don't like it when someone like Tyrone stands up to them and says it like it is. Keyboard warriors who don't like it when the tables are turned.
Keep up the good work Tyrone, you certainly have my support.

Konsa doesn't make anywhere near as many unforced errors as Mings does.

Mings should start concentrating on his day job and stop proselytizing at every available opportunity.

Bollocks.

Completely agree. Same shit gets levelled at Lewis Hamilton on social media. Maybe we should have more faith in our squad and also call out players who are paid to bury chances but spoon them. But those players are perhaps not “virtue signalling “.

Mings does have a few clangers in his game but we should be proud of having an intelligent captain trying to make a difference in a game where sections are happy to boo players taking the knee. Maybe the pressures of racism in the game is affecting his performance especially if whenever a black player calls it out they are accused of virtue signalling or being woke.

The forwards are just as much to blame for yesterday in not burying chances.

Yep, agree, and I think Konsa’s better and probably worth more. But that doesn’t mean Mings is awful.

That is always an issue. A defender or goalkeepers mistake is 80% a goal to the opposition. An attackers mistake is a miss and is taken as part of the normal game over 90 minutes.

Absolutely remarkable how many people on here ( yes like you Sexual Ealing) are so anti freedom of speech and expression. My opinion,  is  as valid as yours and should not be dismissed with 'bollocks'.The current Chinese regime sounds far more like your natural environment.

It's equally remarkable how many people cite freedom of speech yet think their own views shouldn't be criticised.

...and there is the crux of the problem.
Freedom of speech and expression is mentioned by the very same people who castigate Tyrone for freedom of speech and expression.
People can't have it both ways.
Comment on his abilities as a footballer, leave everything else out of it.

If Sexual Ealing had said you should be banned for this and you had been, that would be curtailing of your free speech (although it wouldn't as this is a private site run by private individuals so they can do what they like). Ealing thinking your opinion is bollocks is a valid expression of his free speech.

It would be nice to know what problems you have with Mings off - pitch proselytizing and how you think him stopping it would improve his game though? Do you honestly think that when the ball came to him in the 49th minute, his mind was on what his next tweet would be?

I think he’s one of those white people who like to tell black people how they should protest against racism by the look of it.

It's OK, he used high flautin language to tell that uppity black player to know his business and not get ideas above his alloted role.

I will utilise my own freedom of speech on here, to support SE’s assertions that you are speaking bollocks.

Yes lets link a mistake on a football field to the articulate ant racist comments from someone who seems an intelligent a thoroughly decent human being.
You really are highlighting your own mindset here and its not a particularly pretty place.
