I don't want to boo Tyrone but will boo Tyrone for taking the knee to his corporate masters. Who do you think Tyrone is takiing the knee to?

Corporate masters. What a load fucking bullshit.

The vast majority of people know why he’s doing it. It’s a peaceful protest against racism.

If you boo that, you look like a racist. Bothered?

This is why I'm sceptical of peaceful protest. Nobody does shit until you break their windows.

When, exactly, would there be a public occasion at which these prats would have the opportunity to actually boo Kick It Out? If they could they would, because most of the booers don’t want an end to racism (the others don’t think it’s an issue).
That's fair comment. I only comment (esp on this thread) because I don't think it's a few prats booing and I don't think they're booing because they're racists.

I have huge respect for Tyrone and his team mates intentions but I'd boo if I was there because I think in this choice of symbolic gesture is divisive and we don't need stuff that's divisive.he

But booing your own players isn't divisive?
Yes. That is the line. This is for you BB: If you don't stand up don't expect people after you to to stand, We are at that point now.

I'm genuinely ashamed that someone from my home county could be as incapable with the language as this.

Isn't Aston Villa his corporate master?

Seriously though, the fact that people believe nonsense like this is why we can't have nice things.  People will choose to believe whatever confirms their own biases. The fact that Tyrone has articulated why he kneels, several times - along with other England players and the team's manager - is of absolutely no interest to some people.  And it's because they're so deep into it now that it's impossible to admit they're wrong.  Instead, they'll latch onto anything that makes them feel 'correct', even if that means pretending the England players are all lying.

Cognitive dissonance is a powerful master.

How's that shame coming on Monty. I'd love to hear just how ashamed you still are? Care to elaborate?

Cognitive dissonance is long words for "you're being lied to". It can be fucking hard work.

I've posted in the wrong thread like the tired man I Am, soz;

Why would wealthy millionaires of scant education be part of a Marxist plot?

It's black players and their mates doing something visual that ought to stop and make you think about seeing the world through their eyes for a brief moment. Nothing more.

If you're Villa and my age then you've hero worshiped players like Yorke, Carew, Young and McGrath (praised be his name). You probably love our centre back pairing now. You don't stand there and shout thinking these are black lads when they're doing something special, they're just ours and in our colours, so why get snooty when they kneel down for 10 seconds in our colours?

It's a gesture of a frustrated NFL player. Whose not played since. Its not Marxism.

I mean you can be critical that Kaepernick's act is symbolic of subjugation. Its what one does when performing liege homage to their Lord, it makes no historic sense to me. Copying Jesse Owen saluting in 1936 would make a lot more sense, but its not mine. I'm white, it makes no odds to me I don't care what race you are, I'm not the audience.

You would think every Villa fan would understand BLM when you consider Dalian Atkinson, a hero to many of us, a man who clearly needed help for whatever demons he suffered from died at the hands of police. I’m not here to discuss or litigate that. But it’s that black men specifically don’t get the benefit of the doubt at the hands of law enforcement. Not just now but throughout history. Passed down through many generations all they just want to bring that prejudice to an end. It’s just not that hard to understand and have respect. Even if you don’t think the vehicle used to deliver the message is effective, at least try to understand and educate yourself as to the message.

If the last year or so (what with the BLM movement, the George Floyd murder and The Pandemic) has re-inforced anything, it's that how thoroughly vile, uneducated and horribly unpleasant some people can be.
