It was a moment of madness for sure, I think it will concern Southgate. But he's not playing anywhere near as badly as people are making out. He made a superb block in the second half that's not getting mentioned. There's a lot of hate out there for Mings and I'm not sure why, he's a good, dominant defender, strong as an ox, brave as a lion and an absolutely top bloke.
That player had made a back for him earlier. So Mings got his retribution in there. A sending off all day long.

It would be wrong to deny that he is liable to make a stupid mistake every so often. That's not being over critical, it's just a fact! These mistakes are all the more noticable because the rest of his play is so good.

It was the same with Zaha earlier in the season (when he was caught) and even DCL at Villa Park (where he got away with it). For a guy built like a brick shithouse he tends to take it as a personal affront when a forward takes him on physically. It was the same with Joelinton at Newcastle. When he gets distracted like that he's a liability.

I think it's because he calls racism out. He's been outspoken about it and has said people should educate themselves.
