It means that Bournemouth can wait until the close of the Transfer window before making a decision, unless of course someone else makes a bid, we would then have the choice of matching it.

We're the most active club in the Premier League so far with transfers. 11 are yet to do any business.

I'm absolutely certain this deal is done.  Nothing on InstaTwatterBooks would convince me otherwise.

It's done.

Why isn’t it announced then?

And we're the only club who can't afford to wait until the end of the window having released 10 players and being in need of almost an entirely new defence. Nobody else is in our position.

We are 4 players away from fielding a competitive first X1.
Teams promoted via the play offs are at a huge disadvantage and this is why.
No need to panic yet and I am sure they are doing everything to get the right players in.

I don't think that's true but it really depends on how you define competitive, for me it's finishing 10-16 this season. For that goal I think Steer, Hause, Guilbert/Elmo, McGinn, Jack, El Ghazi, Jota and Moraes are all good enough to start, so that's 8. Taylor probably isn't so a left back is needed, Chester seems to be broken so a centre back is needed. That leaves Hourihane who will be fine for some games but probably a bit light weight for others but he could do a job if we had to go as we are today.

I make that 2 essential and 1 important signings, with Centre back and Left Back being essential to get a functioning team out and then a DM to give us a bit more defensive stability.

What other position are you thinking of? I assume a keeper, and I can sort of understand, but I think it's a bit unfair to Steer to suggest we couldn't be competitive with him in the team.

Agree with the point on Hourihane above - we're extremely light in the DM department now with Jedi and Whelan both leaving.

I'd quite like us to just go all out for Phillips tbh - pay whatever Leeds want for him (because we literally can) and solve that position long term. Him with McGinn and Jack is a talented, young midfield three that would only get better with time.

I think Elmo will be exposed at This level.no idea about Guilbert.
So I think Centre half Centre Midfield and 2 full backs..
Centre midfield and Centre half are absolutely essential, if not we will struggle.

Elmo has never been EPL standard, proven at a few clubs (all under Bruce?). Very solid player for us in second tier but that's his level. Maybe fine for backup, same for Steer, Hause and Jota. At least Guilbert will have a full pre-season with us but it's a huge jump in standard from the French league to the EPL (as seen with likes of Veretout). Moraes too might need time to settle in so a decent backup forward, i.e not Hogan or Kodjia, is required.

Grealish, McGinn, Hourihane (Not as a DM but will still contribute goals and assists) , El Ghazi will all be fine. Holding midfielder and another wide option and we will have a very decent midfield roster. Jota is a surprise signing really, we already have three of our better players competing for 2 positions, don't think we needed a fourth.

My impression is that Hourihane was played in the defensive midfielder role because we didn't really have a good one to play there. It doesn't strike me as being his natural position.

For the life of me, I've never understood why anybody thinks he's a DM.
