I find it really odd they’ve picked Overton over Potts here. The latter would have been good here.

maybe, but a big part of the problem here is losing Woakes. He's not been at his best but he's still been an important player and he generally does ok at the oval. I think his injury hs been a key part of why this test has gone away from us, along with too many dropped catches.

Badly captaincy and bowling at the end here.

The comms on sky said that Washington's 100 in the last test had given him confidence. I said at the time - but not on here -  that we shouldn't have bowled so gently to them just so they could get their tons. It's test cricket, not a charity game!

And once again Crawley shows why he will never be a top Test opener.

That’s a shame, but that was a tough time to bat. It’s still just about doable.

First session is huge. I don’t think we can lose more than one wicket.

He got hoaxed. You’ll expect someone like him to have two brain cells and not fall for a bouncer field setting. I have to agree with rather succinct description from  taylorsworkrate.

Nah it’s confirmation bias, you don’t like Crawley and that’s influencing it. It was a superb ball. Crawley had played the right way, and he was very good in the first innings. You can debate his merits as a player, but “pisstaking prick” makes no sense.
