Quite staggering that the only change is Archer for Tongue.

Woakes and Carse look out on their feet even if you forgive them very poor form

As ever it’s harder to get out of this England side than get into it.

Woakes has a good record at Lords so he should be coming into some form now. His performance in the first hour of the Edgbaston test was fabulous and he really needs to show up in both innings this time. Otherwise I think old Father Time will be calling time on his international career.

Looking at the weather forecast for the duration of the test, its difficult to see what impact Woakes can have with the ball, unless they leave a hell of a lot of grass on the pitch.

Crawley and Bashir are undroppable.

Well yeah, but if you flip it round Crawley played a really key role in a partnership that won the first Test. So I can see why you don’t make that change.

On Bashir, he’s actually bowling better and he’s really being given no chance from the bowl first decisions. I’m not necessarily saying I’d pick him if it were my choice, but as they’ve committed to him I can see why they are.

Yep and Pope could have gone, he’s showing his normal jitters.

I’m not sure what Duckett was doing with the one that got him but the ball that got Crawley was beautiful.

70 odd runs in a full session announces the demise of Bazball, at least for this Test.

In lunch to tea session England didn't do enough to disrupt the Indian plan of attack and paid for that straight after tea.

I think this pitch is currently tricky.

Its slow and turgid. With the weather we have had surely this could have been prepared to have a bit of pace and bounce in it?

Though there is quite a bit of turn for day 1. Bashir will be under pressure to contribute properly this match especially with India (hopefully) batting last.

Looks like we’ll be a bowler down with Stokes hobbling….need him to channel a Gordon Greenidge and get a big score on one leg

This pitch should be a nightmare to bat last on. Jadeja already getting prodigious turn and he's not known as a big turner of the ball

Stokes being injured is a massive blow.
