Carse has had a seriously impressive start to his Test career. He also gives the impression he’ll be good in any conditions.

Has the right style to bowl in Oz, also.

I'm a fan of Atkinson, too.  Great knock in that 1st innings.  Not so certain he'll get on as well on those decks.

Both have been great finds so far and can contribute with the bat  as well.  That's a very good win and pretty much everyone contributed in the game.  Always nice to see Bears players front and foremost though!

That 50 will be great for Bethel and is a good indicator of what he's there to do.

He looks to have the ideal profile for the Ashes, a tall fast good bowler.

I should have stayed awake for the cricket and slept through the football.

Atkinson and Carse look nailed on for the Ashes.

We now need two of Archer, Wood, Tongue and Stone to be the back-ups for when the injuries come, as they always do.

Delighted for Jake -does this mean he'll never play for the Bears again?!

Wood is an absolute must. Need someone with genuine pace in the touring squad

I think Crawley might be the most frustrating player I've ever watched. He has the technique and range of shots to be world class, but he's a fucking idiot. I just find it weird that he's so comfortable with a quick 15-20 and out as if that's his job done. I know it's Duckett that's gone early today but Crawley just looks like he doesn't give a shit about anything but seeing a few go to the rope early on, weird player.

Eventually bowled trying to defend. Inexplicable.

Hmmm, doesn't look as though New Zealand are going to be as unbelievably generous in the field this time around....

Excellent innings from Brook. Very silly to get out the way he did but without his runs we'd have got nowhere near 200
