Will Stoke Game be OK for Kids?
« on: December 06, 2018, 10:31:31 AM »
I'm thinking of taking my 7 year old to this match. Knowing Stoke are sort of local and their fans can can be a bit rowdy also, what is the atmosphere like at these games?

You'll be fine.

There's only ever really any trouble these days when the Noses are in town.

Yeah, you'll be fine.  I'm taking my 6 and 5 year old kids.  Be sure to go to the old stumps building by the North Stand from 1pm as they have the Family Fun Day which is excellent for kids and all free.

I’m taking my (just) 8 year old to this and it will be her first game. Go for it!

Providing they like Tom Jones, you'll be fine.

Didn't they cause havoc at Port Vale earlier this week?
Local Derby, so I suppose " it's not unusual"

Agree with others that it'll be absolutely fine, even Albion aren't really any trouble.

I used to go in the North Stand upper when I went as a kid, loved being able to see the sight of the away fans and Holte End in full view.

When I was able to go more regularly, I always went in the Holte End. The first time I sat in the Trinity and saw a full Holte End it brought a lump to my throat.

Following the shocking events seen at Port Vale on Tuesday, there could well be an increased police presence for this match.

That was a local derby between clubs that haven’t played each other in a while. I doubt it will have much bearing on what happens at Villa Park.

The only place I can get two tickets together is the North Stand. I've never been there, in fact I still think of it as the away end. I've heard it is a bit of a dump. Is that right? I might wait to see if the Upper Trinity opens (which I'm sure it will if we beat West Brom).

The Lower is strictly home. You’ll be fine in the upper. If you’re tall it’s a bit tight, but your kid will be fine. Nothing at Villa Park is a dump. The stand is certainly dated and it will be replaced in time.

Agreed.

Tuesday was a bunch of idiots who're probably too young to have seen Stoke play their local rival before, being hell bent on trying to destroy their rivals ground.

They won't give two hoots about us in that respect.
