the local derbies where the support is mainly made up of local people ie within say 50 miles are the ones where trouble is a possibility

it’s not the big Sky games between the Manchester clubs Liverpool Spurs Chelsea etc its at games like ours against Blues where the policing is now so tight you dont see an away supporter apart from inside the ground

Stoke v port vale
Watford v Luton
Blackburn v Burnley
Mansfield v Chesterfield
Milwall v West Ham
Portsmouth v Southampton
Northampton v Peterborough
Bristol c v Bristol r

are the types of games where trouble can flare, they are not always big games with large attendances

Villa v Stoke will be absolutely fine

I expect Stoke fans to be very upset at the end of the match and disappear away quietly.

I remember we played them at home around Christmas in the Premier League a few years  and they brought a really small following.  Never really seen any trouble with them.

As an aside, Blues are a different kettle of fish. Stoke fans have had some proper tear ups with them over the years.

It wouldn't surprise me if that got ugly on Boxing Day.

I know a few Stoke. They used to have ID cards (a bit like you need if you want to travel with England away "officially"). They introduced these in the 2000`s when they had a massive problem.

I think they ditched the ID cards a while ago so its easier to get tickets now.

I am sure after the Vale match the police will be on top of it..

First compendium paper issue on sale for this match. Buy from me. I need the commission. Or at least come and say hello to one of us at our semi-regular selling spots. We're all friendly. Even Dave. No hooligans. Well apart from.... Only £2.

Yeah I lived up there for a few years and there was pockets of trouble even in some premier league games (against West Ham usually) but can't remember much in our meetings back then.

They did take a few small followings to VP as don't think they were happy paying 40 quid or near enough that. I think with lower prices now they'll sell out their 2.6k.

Can't remember the last time there was fighting inside or outside the ground at Villa. The police have it all sorted. Shame they are so incompetent when in charge of matches at other stadia in the area.

Yeah you'll be fine. We'll have a good 70% plus of the ball, so you'll only have to avert your kids eyes from the horror show that is Rowett ball for a few minutes of the match.
