Watching some of his performances at St Mirren and Hibs, you can already see he is top class. He doesn't get noticed for how much skill he has on the ball because he's viewed (kindly) as a jokey, very Scottish workhorse for less fashionable sides. He'd have been deified - and had a regular starting place - if he'd been in any of Ferguson's successful Man United sides. Top quality player.

You saw his Hibs and Mirren performances? I thought you hated football!

I was listening to the 5Live comms of the game yesterday. Andy Reid was the pundit and as "someone with a big arse" professed his total respect for Meatball.

i loved watching him chatting to their players in the box in the game yesterday

Proper wind up

Was it McGinn that caused Caicedo to get himself yellow carded where he nearly lost the plot and probably got saved from a red by his teammates?

Yes in the box , there he is chatting away ❤️

And when the bloke had been carded, McGinn patted the bloke on the back, Caicedo' was about to explode while McGinns face was a picture.

I loved the pat on the back after he had been carded. Proper wind up merchant.

All our mascots yesterday were from the Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Quote
If you're at Villa Park today or tuning into today's match against Chelsea on TV, keep your eyes peeled for nine very special people who will be making an appearance.

Thanks to @avfcofficial and @AVFCFoundation, nine of our patients will walk out onto the pitch alongside the players as mascots!

Six-year-old Max, 11-year-olds Alex, Esmay and Tayshelice and 12-year-olds Alfie, Charlie, Vinnie, Oliver and Jenson are all massive Villa fans, and that's not all they have in common. Each of them have spent long periods of their young lives in and out of our hospital and for many of them it’s become their second home.

We are so thrilled to be able to offer them this experience, fulfilling a bucket list dream for them all.

I’d like to add, from personal experience, that BCH is wonderful hospital with brilliant staff.

It is indeed.

Many years ago my nephew was in there for a while and the staff were fantastic. Merson and Southgate visited the ward and Southgate gave about 15 minutes to my nephew which made a big impact on him. So Villa have been doing good things with the hospital for a long time.

The lad who was in the wheelchair pushed by McGinn seemed really happy as he either waved or did a fist bump when they came out on to the pitch. McGinn involv3d him in th e warm up and also played a few passes with the Chelsea mascot too which was a lovely touch.

Lovely story about your nephew Pat.

Cheers Brend.

At that time Southgate’s dad worked in the facilities team at our place so I was pleased he was a good un.

If I had to pick a player to score our winning goal in a cup final, it would be John.

'And it's gonna go in, in from John McGinn.'

There are games when he is less than full on Tazmanian Devil but when he is in destroy mode like on Sat there is no one stopping him.

I hope he does 10 years with us and gets a proper send off when he eventually finishes his career in the pub league.

What a great servant he has been and cudos obviously to SUE who has resurrected his career when twat Gerrard almost killed it.

Was there any previous with SJM or Villa with Caicedo? He certainly knew what he was doing and was fully prepared to take the card.
