It was as clear a red card as you'd ever see, McGinn just raced at the bloke like a man possessed, with the single aim of taking him out.  I mentioned it earlier in the thread, that as McGinn was trudging off the field Konsa was close by, looking directly at McGinn, pointing at his (Konsa's) head.  It wasn't easy to discern what the gesture from Konsa was meant to signify, but it didn't entirely look like Konsa giving him a whole lot of support!  Konsa it was of course who'd screwed up badly for the second goal, so all in all it kind of looked a bit dysfunctional.

It was a red card all day long. Not a studs up leg-breaker, but there was no attempt to play the ball and there was definitely excessive force. I wouldn't have wanted to be on the end of it anyway.

Should know better and i hope the club fine him as he deserves it after letting us down with that reckless decision that cost us dearly.

I'm surprised you're able to decipher what he's looking at and what he's intending with the look based on that photo.

It was a shit challenge, absolutely worthy of a card. On many days a yellow would have been given, yesterday it was red. I don't think anyone is saying anything much different.

If that had been a yellow, it could have been the challenge that sparked us into life.

I'd say he took his legs, bit there were no studs, no leg was planted, he just took him out. Nobody would want to be on the receiving end of one, but then you'd argue the same about many of his legitimate tackles!!

I think it was a red and would’ve been called one if it had gone to VAR.  that said, at least a couple of the spurs players who were shoving and grabbing McGinn by the neck should also have been at least booked.  Not one of them was though.

As much as anything, he could have injured himself. It reminded me of Gascoigne in 1991, charging in and swiping. McGinn went absolutely flying about the impact.

He's the player he is because he's so competitive and tenacious but that on this occasion, he crossed the line. He's not done it before and I'm sure he won't do it again. But our midfield without him is going to be a bit scary over the next few games.

Or we look at the season as a whole and we haven't followed up a league loss with another loss. Of course it could happen, but why take one match and use that as the guide for how all the other matches will go?

I don't get the constant demand for apologies in the current world.  It's almost an obsession.  I imagine he's far more pissed off about the sending-off and result than you are.
