Well the basics.
The fundamentals, then.
Yet its contrary to what I've noticed, as hes confused with the football. He was possibly the weakest part of a fantastic first half. Made a few recovery tackles but appears completely clueless and must carefully choose how to pass he ball. We can observe the activity in his brain. He seemed to continually have to consider where he should be on the field and was somewhat anonymous for the majority of the game.

It is extremely obvious to me that he is struggling, and I have a strong suspicion that he is someone who struggles to advance under Emery's guidance and to maintain control of the ball and discipline in his duties

 Good luck to him in his attempts to impress and improve, nevertheless, I have my doubts because he has been trained in a far different manner throughout his career than what has been requested of him, and I don't think his thinking or character can change. This is applicable to a lot of individuals in the team who have not received training in this manner, such as Ramsy Watkins, Konsa and Mings but to me they sound much more enthusiastic and at least tried to show and be eager to make improvements, and they all have articles on the state of things.
McGinn, who is always making jokes, I believe insulted Emery by describing what he does in team meetings as "going on" and "We do lots of long meetings but if we are winning and getting results then it’s worth it."
Contrastingly to Mings, who says attention to detail.
"It is easy to hold people’s focus in a long meeting when everything you’re saying has a purpose"

Observations and from character McGinn is having trouble comprehending it all and the bigger picture
This is a senior pro who needs to be far more serious and known his strengths the sort of comments he makes for his job aren't acceptable especially if captain.  Emery is proper professional and expects same focus from players which will ultimately improve them

"I don’t really mind what position I play in, the manager asked me when he came in if I had a preference but as a football player, the preference is anywhere on the park and not the bench"


At least he has perhaps understood a bit more about his body shape in instruction when recieving the ball but that's going to take a bit of work

Emery improves players its up to McGinn to start learning as come the busy summer plans he be further down the team or out of the club completely.  He's a place holder in this team and squad for an upgrade in my eyes and will take me and I'm sure Emery a lot of convincing he belongs in Villa midfield in the way we want to possession the ball moving forward next season.

Intriguing 15 games ahead for McGinn.

Well there are no more free weekends left in the season for him to go and get wasted in Dublin so hopefully he'll knuckle down in the Bodymoor classroom for the last semester of the season.

Re Dublin We established he was with his fiancé and perhaps a recreation for impending wedding.
It's more the principles when injured to be resting and recuperating rather than swanning off over Europe
No doubt a dilemma so will give him credit.
But then have to give him some grace if that only time he could get away.
